New Pick Up

Afternoon all, have picked up an old 2000 Epiphone Korina SG. I want to put in new Bridge pickup to handle some heavy rock. I've whittled it down to a Iron Gear Dirty Torque or a Seymour Duncan JB. So thought I'd stop off here for your thoughts.

Cheers.

Re: New Pick Up

The Dirty Torque is a copy of the JB. They sound very similar, but I find that price difference makes me go to the Dirty Torque for most of my budget conscious projects unless I really want the extra 10% that I get from the JB.

Thanks for the advice. I have seen a second hand gold covered JB for £49 and was considering going for that over the Dirty Torque.

Re: New Pick Up

What do you define as heavy? The JB is more of an 80s type sound unless you change the EQ or boost frequencies another way.

BLS, Orange Goblin, Sabbath, Monster Magnet and Motörhead. The JB covers that territory with a bit of a boost/eq

Re: New Pick Up

I wouldn't say the jb is so much tight as it is upfront, but tone-words are completely subjective.

The Custom would be my suggestion. It's going to be a compromise no matter which one.

Good points you made there Id have to agree with a Custom, or maybe even a Super D.
Hope all is well Dave, miss ya!
