New Pickup Config - Charvel 750xl

Hey guys,

I'm brand new to the forum, and I also just scored a used 1989 Trans Amber Charvel 750xl. I'm interested in swapping out the standard 'Jackson' pickups for something more toneful/high output. I've been thinking about maybe the Doug Aldrich Suhr set, or just the JB/59 set. I was curious as to how the JB stacks up to the Aldrich - if anyone has some experience I'd be very interested to hear their opinions.

PS - my favorite some of my favorite guitarists/tones are Scotti Hill from Skid Row, Warren DeMartini, Randy Rhoads, pretty much hair guitarists from the 80's.

I just joined and found your post. My buddy has two 1990 era custom Jackson Soloists. One is an H-S-S setup with a Duncan Distortion in the bridge. The other is an H-H setup (like the 750XL), also with a Duncan Distortion in the bridge. He didn't like the sound of the DD in the H-H model so I swapped it out with the Suhr Doug Aldrich humbucker. The guitar came alive! It's sounds incredible. Plus the DD neck pickup sounds excellent with it. Give it a shot.
