New pickup day! Antiquities!

Just installed a new Antiquity bridge pickup(8.65k) in my new Les Paul a few hours ago. It replaced a Seth Lover that I previously installed. The neck pickup is also a SD Antiquity. Tbh, I didn't expect to hear much difference between the new Antiquity and the Seth Lover but it seems I was wrong. I could immediately tell that it sounded a little different. And I liked what I was hearing.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the new Antiquity bridge pickup. I've got a couple of sets of Seth Lovers in 2 other guitars so this will be a good opportunity to compare those to the Antiquities. I don't know how valid of a comparison it will be considering that the Les Paul has something that makes it stand out vs my other guitars.

For example, the pickups in the Les Paul were in another guitar previously. They sounded great in that guitar. When I put them in the LP, they sounded even better! There's a roundness and fullness to the tone that wasn't there in the other guitar, using the exact same set of pickups.

Both guitars have the same parts otherwise: 500k CTS pots, quality caps, and Switchcraft 3 way. Both have the same hardware. But the Les has something extra. It's a stellar guitar that sounds incredible with the set of Antiquities in it. The only thing I'd change about it is the external appearance. It looks too artificial and processed. Not natural. The tracks below the each string look artificial.

I have Antiquites in my Howard Roberts Fusion (sort of a fatter semi hollow LP) and they are fantastic. I love Seths, too, but something about the clarity in the Ants that is perfect for some guitars.

Yep. I could immediately tell something was different. Now that I have the Seth bridge reinstalled in another guitar, there's a noticeable difference between it and the Antiquity. I knew from the first note that this was the bridge pickup for me. It has the mellow, smooth attack I was looking for. Man I like this!

I like the bridge antiquity quite a bit. Sometimes I find the neck a touch too soft though, I've been kicking around the idea of throwing an A3 magnet into mine to see if that brightens it up a bit.

i love seths but i love the antiquities too. i have a few sets of both. in my two lp style guitars, gibby lp traditional and hamer usa monaco elite, i have antiquities in both. ive experimented with other pups, pgn so i could split, 36th anniversary for a little fatter sound, but i keep coming back to the antiquities.

glad you like it!

I have an Antiquity JB in my LTD EC. I realize it's not the same thing, but I do feel they pour a little extra magic dust on these pickups.

Are all Ant hums CS?

How about a bridge antiquity in the neck pos?

i put an a3 in a zebra antiquity neck and i really liked it, very similar but a bit less low mids maybe? its still in that pup, but i swapped a different antiquity neck pup that was double cream. i may go back to the zebra for aesthetics though. it wasnt as much of a change as i was hoping for i guess, but it sounds great so the a3 will live in that pup.

I have a pair of Antiquities in my Ibanez AS73, and they are incredibly sweet and creamy sounding. For all around playing, they work very well. Everyone who plays it, loves the sound.
