Copper plates. Wonder how that influences the sound?

Never heard of that brand. But if they work for you. You know, also, Duncan will do a rewind of any pickup you want with the pickups you supply as a repair service. So if you have a set of double creme pickups that need to be 'repaired', I believe you could get anything in the Duncan line on those bobbins (unless they changed their policy - anyone know?).

Oh my that is interesting

But they are similar enough to the JB/JAZZ set i like so much

I want to compare them the 5 or six sets of duncans i have in various guitars with differet bodies

so slightly brighter than brass
not as warm as nickel silver

cool

on this pickup it looks like plated copper or plated brass
I will check

Duncan uses nickel silver right?

I've tried various P-90 sets that were cheap ($17-40 per set). A5 magnets. Yootones, Fleor, Lamsam. They actually sounded great. I haven't tried the Maxcheer brand pickups yet, but I probably will.

well I was going to try the Sapphure brand on amazon at $19
but they had the cheap looking brass base plates

these had the specs i like with what I think is a plated base
looks more expensive even if its not

I will try them in something shortly

I though the covered ones would fit in a set of triple shot rings
but they wont

the creme set is plan B
the uncovered set will fit the rings

Just my opinion, but I think the P90 design is inherently more forgiving - or at least more tolerant of cheap parts & generic winds - than the humbucker.
Not that I have a huge amount of experience with cheap import pickups, but the P90s always seemed to sound great. Humbuckers have been hit or miss.

Rail pickups seem the most iconic cheap generic pickup

I mean the expensive and cheap sound almost identical

so I got curious

are those base plates really copper?

so I looked it up and brass is only 28% as conductive as brass

I put my DMM on ohms and tested leg to leg on the Maxcheer
and the meter said 0.000 or same as touching the leads together

went to a pickup set with known brass baseplate
the meter read 0.38 just a fudge higher

so they must be copper I would assume it is plated with something still
