New Pickups

Hey everyone, i recently got my new pup´s, a custom trembucker for the bridge and a distortion for the neck, although i just got two humbuckers i have hum-sing-hum setup on my guitar, so i´m planning to use the stock single coil in the setup with the SD pup´s.
so i was reading the tiny manual that comes with every pup, a small pink manual, well it says in there that i have to follow the wiring that comes with the stock pups, and i have many question probably already answered in past post... anywho, i downloaded the SD schematics for wiring it the SD way on my guitar. i´ve copied the stock wiring in a piece of paper and compare it to the SD wiring its really different as i expect it, but it confused me, in the SD wiring schematics the black wire is the hot one a im right? ok so this black wire is soldier to the 5 way switch, but in my guitar the green wire is the one soldier to the switch, and the black one to the back of the pot where the ground is soldier... my short question for this long story is, what wiring scheme should i follow, the one that brings my guitar or the SD scheme ?
the humbuckers split in the 2 and 4 position...
thanks for reading this long post...
seeya and rock on :newangel:

Re: New Pickups

If you could tell us exactly what brand, and model guitar you have, it would be easier to give a more accurate answer. (That way, we can look up the color code of your present pup.) :)

Re: New Pickups

okay i have an Ibanez GRG370, basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, hum-sing-hum.
another question, i recently bought a used peavey tracer guitar, hum-sing-sing, what pickups should i be looking for, it has poplar body, rock maple neck and rosewood fretboard, i looking for this guitar a more hard rock sound, a JB for the bridge, a little 59 at the neck and for the middle i just dont know as well as the ibanez guitar...

Re: New Pickups

I couldn't find that exact model number. (RG370, perhaps?)

But your wiring should look like this. (Corrected for SD color codes on the humbuckers.)

Re: New Pickups

thanx man, i really need it this yesterday but thanx coz now i have the wiring schematic of my guitar, actually my guitar is an ibanez GRG 370 fmtl, i guess is made in korea, is a Gio series, but the body, neck and fretboard is the same as a RG series, the normal ones.
yesterday i installed the new pups by trial and error, and it went great it sounds awesome, but it has some hum noise in all positions how can i fix this...
thanx

Re: New Pickups

today i try them at full, i guess i have a problem, and i thought that you´ll could help me.
the neck pup its fine, the sound is amazing, but the custom it misses something, and i just dont know what it is.
i´m pretty sure i did a good job soldering all the wires and in the correct way. well i copy the wiring that had my guitar and install the new SD´s.
the problem is that the custom sounds like a single coil, the 2nd and 4 position doesnt sound like two single coils it sounds like only the humbucker splitting and it sounds weak.
please help me :smack:
