New POD Go day!

Just a note, the POD Go hasn't been updated with the 3.50 Helix update. Will probably get some of it later, but it has a different architecture from the Helix line, although it shares some of the tech.

That was why I didn't mention 3.50 models like Plumes (Eqd Pillar), Vitriol (Peavey Invective), or MOON (Sunn Model T).

There are a few older models that don't seem to have made the Go, which is too bad. GA-40 is a fun amp.

Again - I just caught up with the current model. My progression in this area =

Roland Cube 30
Zoom G3N
and now Pod Go

So I'm in a brand new very good place.

Oh yeah - found the tuner!

Oh man...just figured out the "Snapshot" function

Between the Presets, the Snapshots, and the Pedal mode....this thing kicks the @$$ of my Zoom!

Yeah, I use snapshots all the time. Fractal calls them 'scenes' and you get 8 per preset. My HX Effects gives me 4 per preset. Either way, it prevents me from having to tap dance on several pedals at once.

I got into Snapshots on the HX Effects for a while, but I realized pretty much everything I want to do can be handled even more easily by assigning multiple effects to one controller - channel switching my amp while turning on reverb for cleans, maybe with some mod, and getting a lead tone with overdrive before the amp and delay in the loop. That's like 98% of what I ever need or want. And I realized that I personally really prefer staying in Stomp mode and not having to toggle... makes more sense to my pedal-addled brain. The Snapshots feature is awesome though, and I can see a couple spots where I still might need it - especially on bass, being able to toggle between different EQ and compressor settings in the same models is really useful. Not sure if Pod Go lets you assign parameters that way.

Well, for Live I'm thinking this:

A: Amp sound
B: Amp + Rhythm Delay
C: Amp + Lead Delay + EQ Boost
D: Up for discussion

A Snapshot set like that would do almost everything I need Live from a basic sound.

That said, I do love the pedal mode! Especially being able to put them where I want them and the color coding...

So I took it to rehearsal last night. A few thoughts

#1 Easy enough to go straight into an amp head clean channel and sound good! Amp out bypasses cab models.
#2 The basic Stomp mode really worked well! Went back & forth between Soldano and JCM800 models with delay, reverb and chorus generally available.
#3 So many ways I COULD do a lead boost; Volume pedal with floor/full setting, master volume on a switch, post amp boost, but I think I'll just use a graphic EQ at the end of the chain. Add a few DB's, maybe punch a little mids.

For a few more exotic settings I'll make unique patches, but I only need four or five of those. Really really like the way this thing is laid out!

Line 6's compressors work well for a boost, too. That's what I wind up using.

My preferred style of lead boost is usually just "more loud"

I have used clean boost pedals, EQ's, Compressors, 2nd channel buttons, you name it. I'm generally using hopped up pickups, so I don't need/want anymore compression.
