New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

Re: New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

I and a bunch of others had a go on a prototype of this back in January, and it blew every single one of us away. The EQ just makes it - you can get the TS drive, and its effect on the front end of an amp, without having to have that mid hump (although you can get it if you want it). Makes it so much more versatile and flexible.

As for the 18v part, I take it you have to use an 18 volt power supply? Pity that there wasn't an internal voltage step up that you could just access with a switch.

You obviously didn't read the link.
Power: 9V battery or external 9 to 18V Regulated DC Adapter (center negative)
Current consumption: 4.5mA

Re: New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

I don't normally pay $140 for a TS clone, but I'll give this one a try since it's SD and has the three bad EQ.

It's usually not the controls and a TX clone that set them apart IMO, usable tone is usable tone no matter how you get at it, what I go for is how how they sparkle / sizzle / crunch / etc. There are some 808 clones such as the Behrigner TO800 or the EHX East River Drive that are nearly identical to the TS808, but a lot of others differ slightly, but are no worse, and maybe better, depending on your tastes.

Again - so MANY flavors of little green box. There is one for everyone. But I think this one could do it for a LOT of people.

Definitely, I'm typically hesitant when a green box is released but the more I think about it, this one could be real special.

I still want an East River Drive, though.

Uh oh, I can see another NPD coming with you here soon! (Don't worry, I'll be there soon too anyway )

But, but why not? Everyone has their fair share of vices.

I'm already trying to talk myself out of 2 pedals from Earthquaker Devices and a Hovercraft.

...that's it, I'm asking my boss for a raise.

Re: New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

I knew just a few seconds into the video that I definitely need one.

Damn you, Seymour Duncan! Why do you have to steal my money all the time?

Man, I have some serious GAS for more than a few EQD pedals. If they made a Rat style OD I'd lose it.

You've already got enough pedals to line up to hell and back, might as well get enough to make a second trip.

Re: New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

waiting for more reviews to come out. someone buy it already dammit, for sale on amazon

Re: New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

The struggle is real, I'm dying for a Dispatch Master and The Depths.

The Depths looks cool. I don't have a lot of experience with vibe pedals though. I really want a Sea Machine and a White Light overdrive. And the new Palisades. And maybe a Crimson Drive. Or a Hoof. I like dirt boxes.

Speaking of which, this Duncan pedal looks really sweet.

Re: New Product: The Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive

I should have one in the next day or two. I'm very interested in hearing a scooped Tube Screamer.
