New project - Carvin

Hi everyone... been a while since I've been around! I hope everyone is doing great.

I got my hands on a nice Carvin DC135 for a great price. Has locking tuners and Floyd. It is in great condition overall, but not digging the black color. Has a few dings and scratches. Was thinking of sanding slightly, filling the issues, and re-painting a new color. Thoughts? Not sure about color yet... Could go with a seafoam green or similar.

Oh I like seafoam, or any of the other 50s Fender colors. It would look cool on an 80-ish axe like that.

Re: New project - Carvin

Sweet guitar! I'm a fan of white guitars, especially for Floyded Strats. Looking forward to the progress!

Re: New project - Carvin

Actually, I saw a Toyota in a nice seafoam-ish metallic color (their name is "aloe metallic"), which would probably do the trick...

I'm actually planning on using it on a 2 minihb Tele I'm in the middle of putting together.

I really like white for superstrats too. Vintage White, Olympic White. That would look sharp. Nice looking guitar.

Re: New project - Carvin

Snow white would be my choice. Class and white go hand in hand. I have the same guitar (older model), same color and plan to restore and re-paint some day.

Re: New project - Carvin

Black is just right for a superstrat. Or paint it metallic black, the one with flakes, or galaxy black in Ibanez's term. But not seafoam, or surf green/ blue...come on..

Re: New project - Carvin

I say do it. Seafoam is a reel purdy colour, and there are more than enough black guitars out there. Just make sure you know what you're doing.

Re: New project - Carvin

Thanks everyone... still thinking about it. It looks great as-is... the price was too good to pass up. I might even try to strip to bare wood.

Speaking from experience and owning 20 plus guitars and finished many more i would say LEAVE IT. The finish looks nice already.

Re: New project - Carvin

Mustang electric blue is my favorite super strat color. My next one will be that.

I think Kisels/carvin's color code is Grabber blue for that one (I am partially colorblind.... but they look similar to me)

Fenders Sonic Blue is nice too. Seafoam is fancy :)

Hi, it is definitely black. LOL. I'm still on the fence...
