Just saw the new PRS "Tempest" heads drop at Sweetwater. 100W and 50W versions available at $4400 and $4300, respectively. Made in USA.

Appears to be an exclusive collaboration between Sweetwater and PRS, going for the "Dumble" thing.

Kind of cool to see PRS doing something like this, but that price tag...yowza! Seems you can get a lot of "D-style" amps in that price range.

It is a cool idea, and I'd love to try it. I don't think I am the right person to market to with a $4k+ amp, though.

Would love to try one, but no one in my area is handling PRS amps. I own 3 at this time and love the Doug Sewell designs.
My US built first gen Archon heal and my Custom 50 head have become my workhorses, and I absolutely love PRS amps.
My import Sonsera 20 combo is also getting regular use for small gigs now.
I like PRS amps much better than I like the guitars!!

When is an amp worth $3500 used?
When its $4500 new

It's set up to outrageous price then will be disconnected to $3k at some point

Probably marked up to compete with expectations on taxes and such

Even at $3k, there are lots of amps in competition. I'd have to *really* be sure that what it offers is something I couldn't get anywhere, even in any profilers or modelers. And then that thing it does has to be something I want...no, need....so I'd let go of that much $ on an amp.

Agreed! If I was in a place to drop that kind of cash, I'd probably just get the new Helix Stadium! There's no way you couldn't get a "Dumble"-esque tone out of that thing!

It will be interesting to see what the Helix Stadium will be. There are rumors of a new line of Fractal devices, too, so lots to choose from.

Very cool idea. They are cheaper than Dumbles but still too rich for my blood.

At that price I don't think they are worried about their audience being affected by a recession.

Dumble inspired amps undoubtedly with a Dumble inspired price tag.

My guess is they shoot for a ridiculous price at first to try and cover r&d costs on the sales to people who don't care about price...then they'll drop prices and probably end up with a more budget oriented version too after a few years if they feel they can continue selling more.
I wouldn't buy one - couldn't afford to anyway...but then I wouldn't complain if someone gave me one.
;)

I wouldn't buy one. I can't afford it. But the 4K+ pricetag doesn't seem THAT outrageous to me for an amp that's USA-made, PRS-branded, and Dumble-inspired.

I mean, yeah, obviously it's expensive. But it's kind of the archetypical expensive amp. I don't find the pricetag surprising. I just don't think us who find it expensive are the target demographic for the amp.

That being said... does it chugg? Hm? No?
