Okay - I was on here a few months ago digging for suggestions for a new bridge PU for my LH '74 SG. I was was looking for something a bit hot, but not too hot. I ended up getting a Dimarzio Virtual Hot PAF (double creme). I liked it, it had a unique quality to it, but it wasn't giving me enough UMPH. After searching and trying to decide what to get, I ended up with what I believe is a pretty cool combination. I came across a a double creme Duncan Distortion (sticker was DDJ) from the early '80s (VVGC condition) for the bridge and put the Dimarzio Virtual Hot PAF bridge in the neck position. I am very impressed with the Duncan, but the Dimarzio VHPAF in the neck along with the middle postion sounds killer!! It has that virtual, airy, mojo, sparkle, whatever tone which has great clarity and is very complimentary with the Duncan in the middle postion. Before I got the duncan distortion I was going to get a Duncan Distortion neck for the bridge position, but when I saw the double creme Duncan distortion I couldn't resist.
A couple of quick questions, What does the "J" stand for on the Duncan "DDJ" sticker? Also has anybody else tried the Dimarzio VHPAF Bridge in the neck position? Again, I thought the Dimarzio VHPAF Bridge in the neck position and a Duncan Distortion neck in the bridge position would have been a great combination, but I'm very happy with what I did.
