hello all,
i was going to get some new humbuckers for my toronado that i just bought. the pup screw slots are odd. two on one side and one on the other. humbuckers are one/one. right? how am i going to install the pups if one side wont match up with the slots? i would hate to drill holes in the pickguard.
also, i have no experience with humbuckers. (i have a s/s/s strat) i replaced the pups in my strat, is it going to be harder to switch out the humbuckers in this toronado? im looking for a warm blues tone, is a pearly gates going to be too bright? i have heard good words on that pup.
any input is greatly appreciated.
thanks

Two of the Peavey's in my sig use 3-screw mounting also. I just drilled the two extra holes. I think, however, if I had a nice Toronado, I'd make a small metal plate, with 3 holes. One hole to bolt it to the new pup, and the other two, to line up with your pickgaurd.

Shouldn't be too difficult if you have basic "hobby" skills.

Stonabus - Just wondering - do you still have the stock pups you pulled out of the Toranado? I'm looking for a set.

Re: new pups for a fender toronado...

there is probably a plate already attached to those pickups. that is the same way my bluesbird came and i just used the plate with the antiquities i put in it. I think you will be okay without having to drill anywhere or make a plate. good luck, as for a nice blues tone may i suggest a pearly gates set, or a pearly gates in the bridge and a 59 in the neck.
