New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

I'm liking the Omen extremes. The 8 string though....that's just ridiculous. lol

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

I'd love to get in to 7 and 8 string guitars eventually. Of course, I'd have to try hard to find one that isn't white, black, or dark red over a cheesy veneer and that doesn't have that ugly abalone binding. Even if I only ever played metal on it I wouldn't want it to look like that. I'm getting really sick of these emo kid guitars.

The gloves are on!! haha

I prefer the Kellys. PLUS, Schecter uses EMG on everything. MK uses passives on many of thier models and they are using rockfields which are pretty good. I dont care much for the EMGS.
That makes two of us Bro!!!:beerchug:

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

Style-wise I like 'em, abalone and all. I'd probably want to replace the pickups, though.

Oh, and I think the swollen non-cutaway is going to be in a lot of guitars these days. This is a new 09 "Deceiver" from dean:

The "swollen cutaway" while might disturb some aesthetically obviously has an extremely important reason to be there.
a) It allows, without affecting neither tone nor structural stability, for a deeper lower cutaway which in turn allows for a better upper fret access and
b) It protects its' maker from any Gibson lawsuits ;)

True, but it also has a side effect of keeping me from buying the guitar :laugh2:. It's just not my aesthetic bag, personally.

I like that Dean, it looks like a more subtle design than the Schecter, though similar in many ways. The Dean headstock also appeals to me a lot more than the Schecter headstock on that one (nothing against the other Schecter headstocks) as those corners at the end really bug me.

That's fine man, it's an acquired taste.
Me myself don't feel too hot about the Schecter but I DO love the Michael Kelly (well, maybe not the EMG equipped one but certainly the Limited and Custom ones, not to mention the smooth Black and Shadow...)

It probably doesn't help that I'm far and away a bigger fan of most Fender-derived shapes. But, if we all had the same taste, they'd only sell one guitar! :beerchug:

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

The 8 string is the only one that caught my interest, the rest are boring as hell IMO.
Schecter did pretty poor this year in the new guitar department compared to their 08' releases.

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

Yeah, I can bearly handle 6.

You'd be surprised how easy the transition to a 8 string is.
If you can make the transition to a 7 string, going to an 8 next is actually surprisingly easy and comfortable, it's nowhere as crazy as it looks.

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

Indeed.

I can think of no less than a dozen guitars that could be kinda cool (or at least tolerable), if only a shellfish hadn't barfed its home all over them.

I don't know how I missed this post earlier. :beerchug:

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

I'm digging that V. The rest, not so much. And I can't stand the abalone either... Schecter is by far the worst offender, followed by ESP/LTD on this.

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

Can't say I think we need anymore oddball LP takeoffs but whatever floats your boat. I sort of like the Classic line, that Ultra would be pretty slick if they went with 3 Firebird pups in it.

Re: New Schecter 2009 Hellraiser Solo 6!

Does Schecter make any guitars with quilted maple tops and gaudy abalone binding all over?

Actually the Solo-6 comes with Seymour Duncans. I'm still not sure if I like the design since i'm used to the classic single cut look. Too bad Gibson is such a pain about people using the single cut design because I'd love a schecter with a traditional single cut design. Throw the vine of life inlay on it and it'd be perfect! I'm with ya though on EMG's, i prefer duncans myself.
