I´m not sure "bad" is the word, but may be improvable for sure, as the pot experiment showed (why that wasn´t grounded I´ll never know)...

Ehm, well, yes, of course, I´d be VERY concerned if it weren´t that way.... After all, this is the engineering reason for the string ground?? This is the reason we can get shocked over our amps, and the reduction of hum is the entire reason it´s there...Or am I missing something?

If by faulty you mean no ground , yes, BECAUSE he´s not touching the strings.... Again, this is the reason that wire was ever put there
Something tells me either one of us is missing something or we´re talking right past each other saying the same thing in different ways the other doesn´t recognize as such.... :smack:
That mess of wires on the back of the pot can't br grounded well. This happens almost every time I change pickups...I REALLY need to get a 45w iron.
Here I agree, the twisted jumble on the tone pot could ne neater, but it doesn´t really look like a cold loint in any way...... *edit* on second look, you may really want to take a look at that joint if nothing else as a preventive measure... I originally thought the small protrudance in teh front was bonded to the pot casing, but it looks more like blobbed on top after closer examination.....
But the "good morning" comment was just a wake up call that if the string ground to the trem claw wasn´t hooked up, then nothing COULD POSSIBLY change when he removed his hand from the strings, as they are no longer a contact point for the circuit with that wire disconnected... the trem claw is a wild goose chase
