I use Dunlop 65 Fretboard Cleaner and Fretboard Conditioner, too. I also use Dunlop Lemon Oil (I am not sure how much actual lemon oil is in it). I wipe off the excess, and don't let it pool up (more of a problem on my scalloped neck). It takes it a few shades darker and keeps it there until my next cleaning.

Leather dye will make it jet black; usually the darkening from conditioning with mineral oil doesn't last long IME.
