New Song (it's been way too long)

I'm finally getting things with my new rig settled, and am close enough now to be writing and recording in full force again.

This one wrote itself, basically, and features what could be my new favorite layering/ambient tool, the E-Bow.

It's named 'Intro' for now because it's overall feel and length make it a great opener for an album/CD, so for now, an intro is what it is.

Dude, I really liked it! This type of music isn't my thing, but this piece was melodic. I think this could be made into a full length song as opposed to an intro. Right now, the song is not much, but I can see it having potential to be great. I hope you do something good with it:)

I like it and the recording sounds great. It reminded me of Queensryche for some reason. Those Ebows are great fun to play around with.

Jeff it gets better and better!
It reminds me many cool songs ,but it is still "you".Great thing bro!

Re: New Song (it's been way too long)

Reminds me more of In Flames, but the rythym guitar doesnt really. Sounds a little too middy.

I can't put into words how much I enjoyed that. Great stuff Jeff. Keep it up.

Oh dang... I take a break from the forum for a few days and things pick up in here. \m/

Thanks, guys.

I'm going to upload the most recent mix of it... I was running into some problems I've since solved with Cubase, so I'll also be getting other stuff up as time permits.

I've got Nightshade completely done from a drum standpoint, and rewrote a few parts in it, so that will probably be next.

Re: New Song (it's been way too long)

From a production standpoint, this is nowhere near done. I don't have anything on the master bus, and the guitars are still just POD. I've been recording the DI tracks of the guitars, though, and will reamp everything at the same time for consistency, once I get about 4-5 songs. I'll then do an 'official' demo type of thing, and use that find band members.

Re: New Song (it's been way too long)

Very nicely done, as always Jeff.

The drums sound as good as the guitars. I can definately see this as a nice intro piece then... BAM!!

Re: New Song (it's been way too long)

Awesome, Jeff! You played straight into a POD for this? What do you use for drums?

- Keith

Yup... 4 tracks rhythm, 2 lead, 4 clean, all of PODxt (clean was 2 tracks DI mixed in), no bass.

Drums were DFHS w/Sonalksis Comp/EQ's, kick blended in with a Sneap sample 40%, snare blended with a Sneap sample at about 50%.

Wow! That's some pricey software you've got there, bro. All put to excellent use.

Student Discounts FTW! I actually am running the MK1's, which were a bit cheaper than the new MK2's, but I wouldn't mind that gate...
