Farmer Giles Of Ham

I. GIANT STEPS
Giant steps sound in the night
The townsfolk flee in panicked flight
A blunderbuss is pointed high
Shooting forth into the sky

Verdant hills and fields of green
Farmer kneels, inspects his yield
Lets the soil run through his fingertips

Harvest time, the days are long
A time for mead and harvest-song
Nothing can disturb this tranquil scene
Or can it?

II. MEETINGS BY FIRE
Coming down 'midst the flames
Crysophylax has arrived
All around laid to waste
Burns with endless fire

Caudimordax bright
Shining like the sun
Within Giles' hand
Leaves the dragon stunned

Fire!
Murder!
Racing, Chasing the dragon
Right through the heart of the town

III. BATTLE FOR THE BRIDGE
Servant!
Vassal!
Wasting all our time
Heed the summons
Bring our treasure
All this gold is mine

Oh no
I won't
Give up what I have earned
You best be heading back to the North
Oh how tables turned for you, my Lord

Plant your flag
'Round my banner
Independence now at hand

Freedom on this day
Cry freedom
Freedom in my name

Peasant!
Farmer!
Your reach exceeds your grasp
We are willing to forgive you
Now do as we ask

You're not hearing
We no longer answer to you
My dragon and my likely lads
Set up a kingdom that's new

Smokes will rise
With dragon fire
Confusion in the night

Freedom on this day
Cry freedom
Freedom in my name
