Hi every one terry here i need a little help i have a squier strat that i love and want to upgrade the pickups to get a better overall tone it is an hss setup with stock pickups i am playing everything from the beatles to some modern stuff classic rock and blues i am thinking of useing the s.d. classic stack plus in the neck and middle but cant decide on the bridge humbucker my choises ar 59 custome hybrid, jb trembucker, or the whole lotta humbucker although the p rails would give me a lot of flexibility would any of these match the classic stacks please helpIM000139.jpg

Re: new squier pickups

I'd go with the basic SH-1B 59 Bridge.

Pearly Gates Bridge would also be good.

If you want a P90 sound go with a Phat-Cat or Bluesbucker for hum cancelling with a series/parallel switch to get a single coil tone out if it. The P-Rail doesn't have a traditional humbucking sound, the rail coil is thin and unconvincing as a single. Parallel and P-90 modes are good, but I don't know about parallel in the bridge.

If you want good 2/4 quack, go with an Area 67 in the middle.

For the neck I'd use the STK-S4B to better keep up with a bridge humbucker.

I have a TB-4 (JB) in my Squier Affinity Strat! It's heaven sent!

But I do agree with Mincer, I believe that in your situation (more low output), the 59/Custom Hybrid would be the place to start!
