Re: New stacks?

As far as I know there is a calibrated set with a bridge model and the neck/middle counterpart. When I did a beta test on these pickups all three pickups had different labels but I doubt the new Stack Plus pickups will have a different mid and neck model when they are released.

There is no hot model or variation on the bridge pickup that I am aware of.

I am not sure about the official release date but it should be relatively soon.

Re: New stacks?

I thought there was supposed to be a "dedicated" middle pickup in the new stack sets??

Even stated a few days ago that the chances of seeing them in shops before X-mas is quite good ;)

All 3 are different...there is a neck model as well as a RW/RP middle and the bridge is a bit hotter and dedicated for the bridge position.
what do you mean by "RW/RP middle"? like one middle PU stack in a set is different to one sold apart?

Re: New stacks?

There is a dedicated neck a dedicated middle pickup and a dedicated bridge or you can buy all 3 and have a calibrated set. The middle pickup is RW/RP which is reverse wound/reverse polairity. RW/RP is used most often in true single coils for hum cancelling in the 2 and 4 positions...the Stack Plus Middle pickup is RW/RP so it's still hum cancelling when split.

Re: New stacks?

I'll have to take a look at my two sets. I don't know about the RW/RP thing with the middle pickup. Since they're a humcancelling stack design it doesn't seem like a RW/RP middle pickup would be needed. The bridge pickup is wound hotter than the neck and middle though...that I'm pretty certain of. Re: New stacks?

Evan had this to say in an earlier post:

The list price will be $10 higher than the STK-S1 price here in the States ($105)

The magnets have a symmetrical stagger, so left-handed vs. right isn't an issue.

The reason there's a middle version is so -- if you decide to split all three pickups -- you'll still get hum-canceling in the #2 and #4 positions.

I see...makes sense! :)

Re: New stacks?

You shouldn't need RW/RP with stacks......they're all hum canceling.

I agree...but Christian is saying that in case someone wanted to use them as non-humcancelling single coils that the middle pickup is RW/RP so with that application you'd have humcancelling in the #2 and #4 switch positions. Just to be sure, I'm going to check my sets and see if that's really the case, but Christian is usually right about this kind of thing. Lew

Re: New stacks?

I see what you are both saying now, about splitting all three....that kind of wiring is over my head!!!

I'm excited to hear these new stacks in person...see how they compare to my Twangbanger/APS/APS!
