New Tele Project Incoming

Re: New Tele Project Incoming

The body arrived today. My wife sent me this pic as I asked her to open it and verify it's the right one. I know what I'll be doing this evening.

Oh thats nice, I need to get me a tele one of these days. I have bonded with the kit one i have just finished for a friend.

Re: New Tele Project Incoming

Thanks. I've owned several Tele's in the past and always told myself that the only way I'll be able to keep one is to make it myself with the stuff I like. The neck is to my preferred specs, I love this color, the bridge I'm indifferent about but have heard great things about the Wilky, and the Broadcaster just seems like the right pickup based on my style. I'll find out tonight how it all comes together.

And it's together and sounding great. The Seymour Duncan Broadcaster pickup is awesome. I love the tones from it. It's got that Tele twang but with some rudeness in there too. With drive it's got great snarl. Very happy with it.

The Eldred Mod is perfect for what I need. Stock values to the mod. Love the cocked wah tone in position 3.

It came together rather smoothly. Just had to open the ferrel holes a bit with a rat tail file and drill a few screw holes. I'm going to pick up a black Esquire at some point.

Here's a couple pics. I'm gonna take some better ones in the daylight when I get a chance.

Re: New Tele Project Incoming

Thanks, gents. Played it some more last night and tweaked the intonation. It has a real nice tone to it. Not too bright at all. Really good sustain too. Now the search for a 5-hole black Esquire pickguard but I think I might add a personal twist to it. An engraving or something.

Very cool. I almost forgot about that paint scheme. I remember when those were new. Can't say I saw a lot of players with one since it was Superstrat time but those did have an appeal.

Re: New Tele Project Incoming

I had a M7 in a triple sunburst type finish. It was actually the best Charvel or Jackson I have ever owned, and I owned quite a few BITD, MIA and MIJ. That M7 was a fantastic player and had great natural tone. I used to love playing it unplugged all around my house, and I do not usually do that with Electrics.

Now when are we (i.e. ME) going to hear a clip of your new Stele?....Tratocaster? it's officially the weekend! :bigthumb:

Re: New Tele Project Incoming

Haha. Clip coming soon. Still tweaking things.

I gotta say, after playing it unplugged a fair bit, it resonates really well. Not as good as Franky, but it's there and I can feel it in my gut.
