New tele project - need pu advice

I'm getting ready to build a tele and really know nothing at all about them. Can anyone recommend a good set of pu's that will work well with blues/jazz but still retain the distinct tele twang?

I personally like the SM-1 firebid mini in the neck of a tele combined with a STL-2 with a tap option.

I think it depends on the wood -- is it an ash or alder body? neck wood?

also, what amp are you using?

Phat Cat in the neck, and something smooth and groovy with a bit of twang in the bridge... Seriously, PC in a Tele neck position is tone heaven.

Mine is an alder body with maple neck, too.
I do a mix of country, blues, jazz and rock n roll. After trying many pickups I'm sticking with a set of 5/2's.
