New Tracks: Sherrie Scott and our own Lew Collins

Re: New Tracks: Sherrie Scott and our own Lew Collins

I think my favorite is "One Summer Night" even though this was the rough mix it sounds beautiful. I had it in rotation for quite a while last night while I installed a Twangbanger in my strat.

Thanks Ryan. That's a favorite as is Up On A Cloud. I guess I like the acoustic stuff best. I kinda think of these as being rough mixes and demos but I'm happy with the way they turned out. Why Why Why seems to be a favorite and that's one I never intended for anyone to hear! The acoustic parts were layed down fairly carefully but the electric stuff and the solo were recorded direct and I was just fooling around. Sherrie liked it so we left it...but that one I plan to record again with an amp. Anyways, thanks for posting these. Sherrie sounds great on everything...I always hear things I'd change about my own playing. Thanks again! Lew

Not So Good?

Truth be told, it's not a style of music I'm a fan of. That being said, I respect the skill and talent it took to make those songs. Good job Lew. :approve:

Oh well...it ain't heavy metal. But Thanks!

We had an interesting gig Saturday night playing for a fund raiser for a Vietnamese Zen Monastery in Morrison Colorado. Played for about four hundred people and 95% of them were Vietnamese. We were the only Anglo performers on the bill. Everyone else sang and spoke Vietnamese. There was a Vietnamese rock band backing up all of the performers except us. We performed as a duo. But they seemed to like us and applauded like crazy after every tune. Later the master who had trained the master who was the abbot of the monastery came over to our table and hugged us and thanked us and told us that our music put him into a deep meditation. What a nice compliment. Some of the Vietnamese women who sang and performed were just spectacularly beautiful, especially the headliner, who was a star in the Vietnamese community and who had been flown in from California. We had a ball. One lady who had performed just before us came up and told Sherrie how great she'd sounded: "Just like a CD!". LOL! It was a fun evening.

One Summer Night is in open D tuning: DADF#AD

It's my current favorite...probably because I just wrote it and we recorded it about 10 days ago.

Up On A Cloud is in Bflat and capoed at the third fret and played like it's in G.

Why, Why, Why I prefer to play with a band but it sounds OK with just an acoustic too. When we play out as a duo I just bring my Taylors and all I play is acoustic. That one on the CD I never intended to be heard...it was recorded direct with my Strat plugged into some program that emulated a Marshall. I played the solo stuff while I was just fooling around waiting for Sherrie to show up. Never got around to changing it...but I'd like to record it with the band next time.

For years I played out on nothing but electric...now it seems like I play out on almost nothing but acoustic. :lmao: Oh well...it's easier on the ears.

Thanks! Lew

Listening to your tracks is a nice way to finish a very long day - It's 22:30 here, I've just arrived home. Thank you for this soothing experience.

Thanks Peter, Sherrie keeps telling me that this CD we're recording is about healing. That's what she sees her lyrics being about. We're going back into the studio Sunday with a percussionist. Should be able to knock out two more tracks this weekend. Thanks again! Lew

Thanks Erik! Got your email last night and I really appreciate
your comments. I'll pass them along to Sherrie. We do have a five song CD I could send you right now, or if you want to wait a month or so we should have more songs to add to it.

We're in the studio almost every Sunday now and Sherrie and I have written a few more songs in the last couple weeks that I'm really excited about.

We have about 25 tunes now that we've written but we keep writing new ones and not getting around to recording some of the ones we wrote 6 months to a year ago.

Anyways, it was good to hear from you!
