New V day

Re: New V day

They did make Korina versions but they're rare as hen's teeth. Nice geet. I had one that I picked up in Sasebo and should have kept!

Re: New V day

Great looking axe....I do think the Gibson logo is butt ugly though, regardless of my thoughts on 'rebranding' the guitar. But like you said, it's your guitar, and if that makes you feel all fuzzy inside then all the power to ya.

Awesome guitar.
I still miss my Epiphone Flying V Goth

Re: New V day

Edit: should have checked the serial number.

That's my old one that I sent to TC in gratitude for returning my Hamer. It's definitely not Korina. I bought it, brand new in 2002 or 2003, in Japan during a port call in Sasebo because there were 2 Vs in the store, an overpriced 67 ri that played like crap and that thing which blew it out of the water. They relocated the strap button for me right there, no extra charge. Either way, it came with all the case candy (though no case) that's still floating around here, somewhere. I'd have kept it but for the small frets which, oddly enough, don't bother me much these days.

I hope that Gibson comes off the hs without any damage because under that halfass Gibson clone is a cool (and rare) MIJ.

Those aren't the stock pups, either, though I know I sent them out with it. They're Tesla Vintage 60s or some such that I wanted to try out. I was impressed, so they stayed in, not that the stock Gotohs were bad at all.

It's called a BFV-58 and there WERE Korinas but they were BFV-58Ks and there were only a few. A guy on the MLP has one.

i know the logo swap is not popular with some, but its just something i wanted to do....that the beauty of owning a guitar, you can do mods that you want to them

While true... it is also true that you sell (flip) every guitar you buy, so it seems a little suspect.
