Wagner is now making what they call the Moore/Green set. Aside from my philosophical objection to then putting Gary Moore's name first, this sounds interesting. :yell: Not only is the set out of phase,it is set up to have the neck pickup reversed lke the original. Could be interesting, even though WCR's are potted and tend to be wound hot. This may be the solution for my R9.:fingersx:

If you are looking for the Peter Green LP Tone drop in a set of Antiquity's, flip the magnet in the neck pickup and flip the neck pickup around backwards in the ring, then call it a day. You could also do with a set of Seths but I prefer Ant's over Seths to be honest. If you don't want to do that MJ offers a P. Green bucker set from the Custom Shop.
The fact that all the WRC pickups I have tried are wound so much hotter than "normal" and the fact that they are wax potted kills them for me...

WCRs are incredible pickups, by the way. One of my LPs had a Darkburst/Crossroads combo that is just awesome.

I never even HEARD any Peter Greene until about 3 weeks ago..and still have not heard any PG era Fleetwood Mac. Even though I've known for 20 years who PG is/was and how Gary got the guitar.

Jeff you have definitely heard "Oh Well" classic rock radio still plays it, PLR certainly does.

Obscure? Well I don't think he is that far out of the realm of notoriety but certainly not a household name unless you are a guitar/blues fan.

Oh I completely familiar with who he is...don't know that song by the title..and don't listen to the radio..haven't in years...but don't recall having ever heard any PG/FM back when I did listen to classic rock stations (which honestly drive me nuts...same $hit, over and over)
I'm at work..youtube no workie here..I'll take a gander tonite.
Obscure compared to his contemporaries is what I meant...likely non guitar players have no idea who he is...Bloomfield and Green just aren't household names among the majority of guitar players. Clapton, Hendrix, Page, etc. are.
Regardless if PG gave it to him or sold it to him, Gary is the one who made it famous...it totally irks me when people act like only Peter deserves any recognition tied to the guit..cos he doesn't...Gary used (and abused) that guitar for the past THIRTY FIVE years. If he had never said "I got it form PG", it would be known as the "mooreburst" or something equally silly.

You should ask Gary Moore who's guitar it is and who was the master of it. As for people that Green influenced heavily other than Gary Moore, ad Carlos Santana, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry and a bunch of others to that list. a fair number of "obscure" guys influenced a lot of folks. Paul Kossoff comes to mind. If you like the way Gary Rossington plays, then thank Paul. Hey Christian. I have that set of 50th Anniverasary Seths. Those are supposedly unaged Antiquities. So, if Michael Schenker sold me a few year old V of his cos he needed a new crackpipe or whatever..and I go on to be a very famous influential guitar player and use the V for 30 some-odd years, it should be known as the Schenker V? The ppups are the Schenker tone? My own accomplishments with it should be minimalized because Mike owned it and played with it?
I'm not trying to be argumentative or minimalize Green as a player or influence....at all! But on the other hand, minimizing Gary's career and recordings for the past 35 years with that guitar by giving all the "tone credit" to a guit owned by Greene for a few years is absolutely ridiculous.
Gary doesn't get the credit *HE* deserves for making that guitar sing for the past 35 years on countless recordings and stages (and believe me, as much as I love Gary, I'm no big fan of his in recent years..it's the principle of the thing to me)

As far as boutique pickups go, Jim Wagner is the man. I was a lucky owner of his Roy Buchanan Tele set and loved it, but didn't bond with the guitar and eventually sold it all together (dumb move). I've also owned his Dark Burst humbucker and two sets of his SRs (best strat singles I've ever heard).
I haven't even heard this Peter Green set, but if you dig those crazy out of phase tones, I'm sure Jim has it nailed. That man knows tone!
