New Wolfgang Day!!

.... well, it was a few days ago now, but I haven't been able to stop playing this guitar. I'm not sure I've ever instantly bonded with a guitar this strongly before. I got it for a bargain price too - NZ$850, which is probably around $700USD at the moment. Time to start hoarding Wolfies...

And the Wolfpack is growing further - see page 2!

Good deal - I rarely see them under $1000, especially carved top ones. I did contemplate them once, but would need to add coil splits, and don't care for switch in LP position; well, small quibbles really.

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

Sweet! Basic black.

Btw, nice patio too. (What little we can see.)

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

It's great! To be honest, I didn't specifically notice the carve when I first started playing it... but what I did notice was that it was pretty much the most comfortable neck I've ever played. So I guess it's not as overt as say a V shaped neck, but damn, it does its job.

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

Congratulations!! I love my EVH Wolfgang Special. I play it everyday.

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

Ooh, one of the new EVH-branded ones? A friend has one, great guitar. Got a pic to share? :D

It's a pity though - I heard that end of last year production of the EVH Wolfgangs was shifting from Japan to the Fender China factory. Coupled with the fact that all the USA models were discontinued, it looks like the line is going nowhere fast :(

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

That looks great, I should look for another this year. I had 2 USA Wolfies at one point and they were great, but I really should have kept the older Purple Pre Patent one - it was a killer guitar.

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

I was actually at Ed and Valerie's New Wolfgang Day. I was delivering a wine basket at St. John's Hospital the day newborn Wolfgang was being wheeled out on his mom's lap.

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

I haven't played one in years, but I really liked the PV Wolfgang I tried.

:cool2::cool3:

Re: New Wolfgang Day!!

I played a PV Wolfie flat top back when I was in chiro school. It was like $650. I shoulda pulled the trigger. Instead I got a Gibson SG Special that I put a Tonny Iommi HB in the bridge and a 5150 2x12 combo. I have since sold both. I played that Wolfie for like an hour until the shop came in, upset, and said I needed to stop. That was the nicest, most comfortable guitar I had played. I played an Axis once too that was very similar.

In the future, I have my eyes set on either a PV HP Special CT USA (that GW video has some of the best tone...EVER...in a guitar IMO...love those pickups) or an Axis or one like you have. Fo Sho! Along with a Splawn QR or Streetrod...pure tone gold ;)

Enjoy! That’s a total score.
