New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

They're not the prettiest, but I'm sure among the target demographic (17 year olds who are listening to Zakk "Pinch Harmonic" Wylde), they will do fine.

The $1100 price tag isn't that bad either. If these are truly made in the same factory as all the other companies, then the quality will be there and the specs themselves do suggest an $1100 price.

Overall, I'd be interested to try one out, if nothing else than to say that I tried one.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

NO BLOODY WAY !

So it is not even his own designs like that of Chapman guitars.
These are not relabed units, but true designs, largely with the help of Chapman fans, via his youtube channel.
Everyone could give some input into his guitars, and then he went to the far east to choose a factory toproduce the units for him, not an existing guitar brand, and relabeled 'em.

Atleast some of his designs are creative : http://www.chapmanguitars.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ml3rcb.jpg <--- contoured Tele body.

well, as you can clearly see they are his own designs but they are made in the same factory as schecter in south korea (so are chapmans, some ltd's and even prs ... tons of brands) and I'm strongly assuming schecter is also doing the distribution and everything else, so its just his name on the guitars he designed, I could be wrong but that seems most likely to me.

they are nothing for me, I don't really like the shapes, EMG's or the inlays (too big)... although I've always liked the circle graphic thing zakk had on his signatures

I always wondered about this. When I was 17 I loved zakk wylde. Now i'm 37 and think he's a walking parody of himself. Do young players today still listen to him? I'm genuinely interested, i'm not messing with you.

well I'm 20, not really 17 but closer than you are and I don't listen to it at all, neither do any of my friends and we're all big into all kinds of rock and metal

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

I'm 17 and a don't listen to him, nor do my metal head friends. We know who he is and his music, but he isn't super popular.

I'll be looking into his guitars tho, may end up with some cool axes.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

That vid shows Zakk's guitars in the schecter booth. that is a clear correction of my earlier statement (i.e. the part that I doubted Schecter's involvement).

i stand corrected.

Im ..... uh.... um....alittle older than you.. I liked the young gun zakk when he first joined ozz and I like the song Stillborn.. But thats all I listen to

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

The Schecter connection doesnt suprise me.. the logos on the cabs in the pic look like something by schecter

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

Well, the V is a good-looking V (well, y'know, for a V, personally never got along with them) but the other two are UGLY. Doesn't help that it has huge baseball bat necks. I always thought the typical Schecter C neck to be pretty fat and this one is supposedly a lot fatter than that.

Seeing as I don't play my Strat anymore because my hand can no longer handle Fender's C-shape without cramping out I'm betting I couldn't even stand 5 minutes with one of these so there you have it.
(I do miss her though, sounds wicked with the Crazy 8... maybe one more try?)

you could always drop a new more comfortable neck in it

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

I thought I saw him playing an Epiphone looking exactly like the SG/ V hybrid with bullseye finish. Or was it one of those Wylde Audio brand?

well if i recall it started with a dean splittail *ot i love the shape but the v neck profiles a deal breaker at the 499 pricetag for the celtic run
ZakkWylde-DeanMuddyBullseyeSplitTai.jpg
then from there gibson made a copy that looks alitte bit more like a train wreck to me and epiphone made a clone
ZakkWyldeZV_BE_Splash.jpg
and after that the shape became synonomus with the zakk wylde brand cuz at his point lets be honest hes less of a musician and more of a walking talking logo

though to be fair the only thing stopin me from getting a black one asap *other than the price tag* is the crazy thick neck profile idk im more of a c shape/thin d/thin u person i like comfort over the log with pickups but to each their own

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

They look exactly like I would expect (awful). The V isn't too bad stylistically, but for the same money I can buy an American made Gibson V. The LP style guitar looks like a Fernandes Ravelle. The SG/V hybrid is almost so ugly it's cute, I think. Honestly, they remind me of some cheap BC Rich stuff, but I'm sure they'll play nice. I used to have a Schecter C-1 Plus that I loved. I've always regretted selling it. Still, the prices are way too high for what these are.

Thank you very much - so i am NOT the only one that think they are too expensive, for what they are !!!

Hence the reason i started this thread.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

I think he would sell more at a $750 price point.

YES, the same price point as his sig Epi Bullseye (...or the Dart Board as i called my ZW EPi sig, when i owned one)

Back then, his sig Epi came stock with really crappy, not-so-hot, EMG passive monstrosities - pure uninspiring things.
I think they came with EMG ZW active set later on, and the price remained the same, if i am not mistaken.
Wonderful neck on that old Epi . . . i really liked it.

I realize every guitar player is very different, and a Zakk Wylde fanboy will prefer his signature designs over a more traditional design, but look at it from my perceptive for a sec :

With the current exchange rate, i paid $625.00 USD for a Made in JAPAN Tokai Les Paul (from their Vintage Series) and made from Premium woods.

It just seems to me you do not get a whole lot for your $1100.00, when you buy one of his new guitars.
Even the designs are ''carry-overs'' from his Epi, and Gibbo days - so not even a new design in there.

And like someone else have said :

You can get a few Gibson SG's, a Firebird, a V and several LP's for $1200.00, or less.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

The looks don't bother me, but I'm more anxious to see how the AMPS of his turn out. Hopefully not just jcm800 clones,

You know that odd morbid fascination that kicks in, say, when you drive by a crime scene, and you just have to poke your head out the window and scope it out?

I think I have the same inclination, but with signature amps of metal guitarists- like as if I almost WANT to check them out to find that they sound terrible.
I get such a kick out of watching Kirk Hammett's recent video announcing his new Randall sig. and making fun of how goofy he is and how awful the tone is. Or laughing at the Schecter Hellwin.

Part of me wants Zakk's branded amp to be god awful like that.
