New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

Yep they're more than likely being made in Korea by Cort, the same people that build the Korean made Schecter and ESP/LTD guitars.

Actually, it's been many years since Cort produced in Korea. Cort's factories are in Indonesia and China. The factory you're thinking of is called World Music.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

You know that odd morbid fascination that kicks in, say, when you drive by a crime scene, and you just have to poke your head out the window and scope it out?

I think I have the same inclination, but with signature amps of metal guitarists- like as if I almost WANT to check them out to find that they sound terrible.
I get such a kick out of watching Kirk Hammett's recent video announcing his new Randall sig. and making fun of how goofy he is and how awful the tone is. Or laughing at the Schecter Hellwin.

Part of me wants Zakk's branded amp to be god awful like that.

lol

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

The graphics really make and break some of those body shapes.

At first, I was totally turned off by all of them, but the black Warhammer with the gold pinstripe isn't bad. The V is "ok", probably appeal to those who bought guitar-synths back in the '80s.

I really don't get the spermatozoic squiggle on the single-cut, though. Looks like something Prince would design.

If he can make some cash off this crap, good for him. I just wish I knew where his sister went...she used to cut my hair ;)

Maybe he offered her a job . . . at the merch stand !

My Jackson KVMG-whatever-it-is (the ones with the black alumiloid inlays on ebony boards) was made by World Music (IW serialization) and it's a fabulous axe.

And like someone else have said :

You can get a few Gibson SG's, a Firebird, a V and several LP's for $1200.00, or less.

This statement as-is is a bit misleading: you could get ONE of those for $1200 (maybe 2 Faded SGs or Vs for that price), but certainly not "a few SGs AND a Firebird AND a V AND several LPs" for that single $1200.

It depends were you shop, and what you 'see' as new.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/les-...profileCountryCode=US&profileCurrencyCode=USD - LPs

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/gibson-sg - SGs

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/gibson-flying-v - V

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/gibson-firebird - Firebird

So, as you can see . . . there is a few Gibbos for under that (or within a 100 Dollar ballpark) $1200.00 price point.

And where i come from, if it is not sold yet, and just ''unboxed'', it is still brand new to me.

i belive when they say new they mean in same or similar unboxed condition as another guitar as in not unboxed yet and from what ive seen of schecter 1200 isnt unreasonable and to be honest it isnt unreasonable for gibson zakk stuff either idk why everyones comparing it to epiphone zakk stuff he doesnt use epiphone much but is planing on using mostly the new stuff

That's my point: the statement implies that one could get several guitars for $1200 total. The links, even sorted by Lowest Price First, show that you can get 2 Open Box LPs for $1200 total. 2 is a lot less than "a few SGs *and* a Firebird *and* a V *and* several LPs". "A few" and "several" are typically defined as 3 or more, while 2 is "a couple".

also i dont see why people are complaining about price 1200 isnt unreasonable for a high end brnd new schectner, or gibson. also i get your comparing it to the epiphone price point but hes trying to sell gibson price point cuz end of the day he was a gibson person that loaned his name to epiphone. personally not a big fan but i get the pricing and yeah its to damn high but in the same sense a brand new 2016 gibson is to damn high

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

I think it will be heavily 800-inspired !

INSPIRED great. But a cheap clone would be meeeeehhhhhh. Zakk says plans to use all this stuff himself so hopefully he doesn't use custom stuff with his logo on it and then what people get sold is more assembly line stuff and his specific spec'd amp is available for premium. I mean Eddie is using his EVH amps and they are made in Mexico but the quality is as bulletproof as USA models from other companies, and the same amps he uses are the same ones you buy. Make more affordable stuff of course, but make the flagship model good enough for you to use regularly. That would be the ideal way for Zakk to go.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

Too damn high how?

Fender is selling their MIA guitars at that price point and Gibson is selling plenty of MIA guitars in the $700 range.

I bought a year-old USA LP Standard 2nd-hand in 1994 for $1050 with the case. 10 years later I sold it for that in open bidding, only slightly worse for wear than when I bought it. The new price on that guitar was $1200.

$1200 should get you a USA Les Paul Standard with 3-ply body binding, trapezoids, and rosewood, SG Standard with the bat-wing pickguard and either 70s blocks or trapezoids on rosewood, Explorer, or Flying V, with hard cases, and not of the Faded or other "cost effective" series (i.e. reduced feature set, etc). Dot inlays on a Les Paul and an SG with the "baby bib" pickguard and dots should reduce the price to $1000, because the labor cost is reduced. There's no valid reason this cannot happen, given top-level salaries which have plenty of room for cuts.
Reduced labor and material costs should be matched in the price tag, not just "reflected", but "matched". If it's an extra $200 in materials and labor for trapezoids instead of dots per guitar, it should be $200 less for the one with dots, not $50 less.

The Custom series of LP and SG (3 pickups, ebony boards, MOP blocks, 7-ply body and neck and head binding) should be no more than $2000 at most, with the deluxe hard case.

The Faded and other cost-effective/feature-reduced models should hit $900 maximum for a LP Custom Studio, and $800 max for a LP Custom Faded.

If someone wants a VOS or Custom Shop with premium-quality woods and fine attention to detail and masterful craftsmanship, then you hit them with the high tags, but a production-line, mass-produced, feature-reduced, cost-effective USA Gibson should be affordable in a realistic sense of the word.

yes this is exactly what i mean an exactly why i prefer epiphone

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

I think they look awful and are way overpriced...

If Schecter is involved then I'm sure they will be decent to great guitars but the looks and price point are awful.

Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.

There's more ugly than originality going on for sure...But, you know he'll still sell a few regardless!

Z-dub fan boyzzz unite!
