Re: New Zakk Wylde Brand guitars.
Came across the black bullseye Odin at my local Guitar Center today. It's just as I expected, maybe worse.
I will say that the fretwork, finish and general construction seemed very good. Schecter is certainly holding up their end of the bargain. The overall look of the guitar was quite clean, as well, and I dug the alternating satin/gloss bullseye pattern and black hardware, but it did have a "cheap" feel to some aspects and everything I personally dig in a LP-style guitar was missing.
The single-cut body felt a bit small, an effect that is probably made worse by the full-body beveling. The neck is a friggin' baseball bat. Again, nicely finished frets, but the balance and "feel" of the whole thing just seemed waaaaay off to me. Someone else will love it, of course! And the headstock was pretty boring, didn't seem like a whole lotta thought went into the design.
Finally, even in person, I couldn't get over the awkward, rather spermatazoic shape. Seriously...why? I was actually a tad bit embarrassed to be holding it!
Oh well, Z-dub fan boyzzz will probably be all over it.
