I would recccomend a Squier Standard Telecaster ,which goes for $225.00 brand new, or you can find one used on Guitar Center's website on their used gear section for far less , probably around the $150.00 range. www.guitarcenter.com As far as a amp is concerned , I recommend the Fender Frontman 25R which is really good for a beginner and is rated at a very loud 25 watts . They sell for $99.99 brand new but then again , you can usually find a used one at the same site I mentioned for around $50.00-$75.00 . Good Luck.
