Which guitar should I get next?

-Gibson sg special and leave the pickups alone
-Gibson sg special and install EMG's
-ESP LTD MH-400NT

Re: ...next guitar?

Keep in mind the SG Special is multiple pieces of mohogany, not solid like the LTD. You also don't have a guitar with 24 frets, and I think everyone needs at least one.

Re: ...next guitar?

While I am a fan of SG's I think the ESP maybe what you want. It already comes stock with EMG's and it runs for around 600. A SG special will go for close to 800 and then with the pickup changes, heck then just go for a used standard SG! :laugh2: Seriously though, that ESP seems like a great bang for the buck. Good Luck!

Re: ...next guitar?

Which EMGs come in that Viper, though? I'd take stock Gibsons (490 and 498 in teh SG special, right?) over the EMG HZs. Now if the LTD comes with 81s, then I'd definatly go for the LTD. I don't think the LTD is going to be as fragile ans the SG, either.

Ya, floyds surely suck man. It is the only turnoff of my Ibanez.

Bones, I'm curious as to which EMG's you have in your Ibanez and how do you like them?

Re: ...next guitar?

floyds dont suck, they're just an aquired taste.

i much prefer a non backrouted one though (which i dont think Ibanez do :() because the tone is better and you dont have to worry about where you rest your hand etc

Re: ...next guitar?

i use the Zakk Wylde Combo. But I only use the bridge. I run my TS808 thru my rp100 alot now on dual recto model for the most insane amount of gain. I love Distortion and EMG81 has a distinct Chug that almost gives me a hardon. The 85 isnt such a bad neck pickup, but I would much rather have another 81 for distortion soaked solos. Great thing about the newly made EMGs is that you can swap them out without resoldering. They have a 3 prong clip on them so you can switch them out in like 5 minutes.

Have you tried EMGs thru a DSL yet man? I hated the sound of my ibanez thru my old DSL100. Think about that man before you buy the axe, EMGs only sound good in certain amps to me.

Re: ...next guitar?

The LTD. But...preferably the Eclipse model. Comes stock with EMG's, well at least the ebony and wine red models. The heritage cherry sunburst model comes with JB/Jazz. Cool! :)

Re: ...next guitar?

The one problem with vipers is they feel comfortable to me with the bolt on neck. I much prefer SGs because there set necks and reaching the higher frets are easier.

I'm not considering a viper. The MH is a soloist type guitar.
