Re: NGD: 1982-3 MIJ Vantage Avenger w/ coil tap!

I have an iPad and Garageband, but I prefer real instruments.

I'll agree with you there. I could use a software polysix but I prefer my REAL one. Then again I couldn't fit a B3 in my place so a software hammond is acceptable. As I have a full hammer action keyboard/electric piano that midi's I will use some software keyboards.

You could call it a day by getting a Hammond XK3c? Best digital Hammond I've played. You can also connect it to a PA as it has a digital Leslie sim built in.

I couldn't fit another keyboard in. My Poly six resides on my dining table currently.

Get yourself a 3-4 tier stand. they sell them at Musos Corner really cheap. I have three lovely small keyboards plus a Hammond that doesn't work. The cool thing is, the EP30 came with its original sustain pedal.

MIDI and the old Roland DCB are simple enough. Getting the note, velocity and aftertouch data into the iPad is the trick. Probably involves an Apple-approved connector.

Does that Roland EP have the usual squashy rubber contact strip under the keys arrangement? Be grateful that there are only five octaves to clean. JX-10 has 76 keys.

Dunno, but it is an amazing piano. :D Sounds great, but 5 keys are not working.. argh..

Take another look at the photograph in post #19. Observe the short metal spring at the end of every key. You have to unhook all of these then, carefully wiggle the plastic keys out of the metal bed plate. This will expose the rubber contacts. Carefully remove the sections of the rubber strip to gain access to the points that actually need cleaning. This is a cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol job.

I probably shouldn't be telling you this. I just did somebody out of a few hours' work.
