Played it for a couple of hours last night. Just feels awesome! Just made me want to rip through assorted Modes (A lot of Dorian and Mixolydian, actually...).

Played plugged for a little bit too. Definitely Ceramics in it. I think Jackson modeled on the Distortion IMO. Similar, but not the same.


That said....I DO have a JB8 around here somewhere!!!

Do you not like the stock pups? I tried an A8 in a JB and didn't like it as much as the stock A5. It seemed to lose a lot of the higher harmonics.

The pickups are fine. Definitely in my wheelhouse. I have had my King V for 2-3 years and haven't bothered to even think about swapping, except for random compulsive urges because, well, pickups!

As for the JB8, I'm not really a JB fan. The A8 JB is thicker, more bass, less mids, and less shriek. Somewhere between a Distortion and a SuperD IMO. But who knows....maybe a JB2, a Ceramic for a Distortion light....or even a run at regular old A5 JB in this. Likely nothing though.

Currently seriously plotting my BC Rich double creams scheme, and a PG neck that could use a home.
