Cos it is a dean:
New guitjo/banjitar/6 string banjo day!
Lots of black chrome everywhere. I replaced the head with a "renaissance" head by remo for a slightly more traditional look. From the factory, these axes are fitted with a clear head. Here is a link to the dean site.

you can see the pickup hiding under the skin. It sounds pretty good too.
I gof offered some gigs with a crazy dixieland/trad jazz/drunken barefoot bar brawl band. I was going to get a tenor banjo, but after sitting in with them on a cheapo borrowed 6 string, it just seems like a no brainer, so i did some research and bought one of these online. On this axe i can play all my jazz chords and lines without having to think or learn a new tuning system. Sounds legit in the context of the band too next to the tuba, trombone, trumpet and sax. Easy action, comfortable shreddy neck, slinky electric guitar strings, big frets. I've added schaller straplocks to the resonator so it hangs even and comfortable on a regular guitar strap. I'm pretty sure i will use it in the studio for different textures too. What is not to like? Winning!
