NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

I didn't think I'd be getting a new guitar yesterday that's for sure! My plan was to hit Lemmy's memorial at the Rainbow, then go to a thrash show with Ghoul, Terrorizer, Repulsion, and Municipal Waste. I didn't even make it inside the Rainbow due to the cutoff time of the funeral, but I made it to the other venue and they had a giveaway near the end before the Waste started - they called a lady's name and she didn't show up. The next name they called was me, hahahaha! It's signed by a lot of the band members from the above bands as well as some openers.

For a budget axe it plays pretty nice! (it's an LTD M-10).

As a bonus, I got to pick it up in a backstage room where all the bands were hanging out after the show. I get rather anxious and tongue tied in such a situation, but I managed to tell the bassist for Terrorizer he had a killer sound and I rapped with Dave Witt of Municipal Waste for a few minutes. He seemed surprised I remembered he was in Human Remains, his band from many years ago. Cool dude, very friendly.

I probably should have tried to stop by the Rainbow again after the show but it was like 1 am and I was pretty much spent - I could also see me standing in another line which I didn't have the patience for. I'll go back when it's a normal day and Katon De Pena (Hirax singer) is doing his DJ thing, I've always wanted to meet him.

Some random soloing for poops and grins:

Not sure. I could drop in the orange and black Duncans I won on the forum a few months back, lol! Actually, given ghoul was such a highlight to see, plus their signatures, the orange and black Halloween type theme works perfectly. So it shall be done. At this rate it'll be my number 1 pretty soon.

Thanks! The original tech that worked on it said there was nothing wrong when he looked a second time but given it's been alright since, I think he went back in and re-soldered something.

Re: NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

well then a set of these will complete the halloween theme
you can order only the pumpkins if you don't like the ivy vine thing

Re: NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

i forgot to ask, those orange black duncans, wich models they actually are?

Re: NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

Very cool. I'm a MW fan. I wish I could meet them, let alone backstage while I'm picking up a signed guitar!

Re: NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

Dank are you sure the 78's can handle thrash?, maybe a blackouts preamp or an onboard boost like the emg afterburner might do it for you, or something like the duncan firestorm so you can use a double ganged pot and a push/pull to don't drill more holes

Most pickups can do anything. There are people using 59s for death metal.

Re: NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

Good point but I doubt I'd not like the tone they produce - I like a lot of early thrash before the dawn of a lot of "heavy" pickups. I figure if I can dig on the stock neck pickup (what was used in the above clip), I'd dig on the Duncans in both positions.

Re: NGD: an unexpected thrashtastic prize

Congratulations. The only prize I've ever won was a ham.....lol
