NGD and you're not gonna like it.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

i think they look cool, dont love the lack of upper fret access but theres plenty of notes available lower

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

Yep. All rosewood.

Upper fret access is basically the same as my Les Paul. Join is closer, but the heel is shaped in such a way that the overall ease is pretty much the same. One of the more common complaints I'd read and something I was a little worried about before getting my hands on one. Total non-issue, though.

Oh. That doesn't seem too bad. Nice inlays on the neck. Nice neck too. Rosewood?

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

I was only able to try out an HH model before purchase. Could never track down an HHH in person. So that was a gamble. But I'm glad I went this way. I wasn't particularly taken with the split positions on the HH model (there's an inside coil combination and an outside coil combination) and it turns out the the all-three-pickups setting on the HHH just KILLS. Most reviews say it's a Stratty tone, but to my ears, it has more Tele twang than Strat quack.

Looks awesome. I just don’t think I would have gone with that pickup combo. But that’s me. Would love to play one.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

That is a brilliant guitar! It's like a Firebird from the future.

MM make such nice instruments.

I think you will really love this guitar. It's so unusual but so well made. For the first time, I now own a core PRS. It's a Custom 24. Most of my playing life has been chasing classic fender or gibson tones. It is really liberating to play a guitar that you can appreciate as its own voice rather than comparing it to (largely studio recorded, God knows how they were processed) iconic sounds or impressions of sounds in your head.

I think you will get some amazing sounds out of that thing. Congrats.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

I REALLY love that neck. The guitar would never be in my stall, but it is very cool to look at.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

It always seemed like a big guitar to me- I think she is pretty tall. Does it feel balanced to you?

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

Really cool and very pretty. That thing's totally gonna rock.

I love the EBMM rosewood necks with the wax/oil finish - have one on my Albert Lee, and it feels incredibly good.
Mine's a pretty small neck like the St Vincents have. I wish they made 'em fatter and wider.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

It's a little longer than average, but whether sitting or standing, the extra length naturally gets pushed out behind my right arm, so the neck reach feels very compact. If I were, for reasons that elude me, to rest the guitar on my left leg or force the body to my left while standing, then the nut starts to feel a bit far away. But it naturally wants to hang with the neck pickup in the middle of my body, which puts everything comfortably nearby.

Balance is perfect. No matter how I position it, I can't get it to dive.

These are both things that I saw people complain about during my years of research. And, having been burned before when buying a dream guitar, I was a little worried. Part of the reason I refused to buy one before getting my hands on one in person.

They turned out to be even less true than the upper fret thing.

The EB/MM necks are remarkable. I have smaller hands, so I love the size. You do have to re-apply the wax every year, though. They have a video showing you how to do it. It is absolutely worth it, when you get a chance to play one.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

Followup on relative size and how it hangs. Here's a photo of Jack White playing one on SNL recently. It seems to hang on him the same as it does on me, though google tells me he's four inches taller than I am, which explains why it looks a little smaller against his frame than it does against mine.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

The only things I don't like are the inlays, and the symbols on the headstock. Like all MM guitars... I'm sure the neck is awesome.

Re: NGD and you're not gonna like it.

I actually passed up a screaming deal on a recent BFR version with block inlays (and a cool sparkle finish), in part because I found the stylized-S inlays more interesting.

The use of that particular S T V logo is a bit curious, though, since it's really a design that was only ever used around the release and promotion of a single album (the 2014 S/T one). It was current when these were first introduced and maybe she/they thought it would be an ongoing design. Dunno. I dig it, but at this point I associate the design more with the instrument than the artist.
