NGD: Blaze Shredder, loaded with MJ pups

2011 MIH Buddy Blaze Shredder w/ lightning storm graphic. the last guitar made at the Hawaii shop.

this was made for someone that has several Blaze models and this one was hardly played. the original request was for the 'fubar' dot inlays - yeah, I know.

the dots didn't do it for me and I made that clear when I first saw photos. the original owner was trading it in on credit for a new build. I went to check it out, and that was also back when they were putting an inlay (or whatever) on the back of the head with the owners name (i.e., 'handmade in Hawaii for "insert name"). so who wants a guitar with someone else's name? it's like looking down and seeing a tramp stamp with "Lucid Lunatic".

the NightSwan ping pong dots were off the table, as were just regular dots - which are reserved for the 25th anniversary model. those new style ping pong didn't do it for me, so I went with no inlays at all.

that's a 25th anniversary neck, which is identical to the one on Vivian Campbell's original blue polka dot Shredder (Whitesnake's Here I Go Again video). the original was actually a Warmoth neck, as was the original Shredder body, both shaped and modded a bit. when Kramer started the NightSwan line, he wanted to go with Warmoth for the parts but ESP (who was already making the bodies and necks for Kramer) could make the parts for less.

it came with DMT Blazebucker pickups, which are fine (and now currently for sale). since this is essentially the Shredder that the NightSwan was based on, I wanted the same pickups. I already had a selection of TB4J models (yes, the spacing does fit). I do have a TB10J already in my NightSwan but didn't want to pull it or go with a production model, so MJ made me a CS Full Shred w/ no logo and a little extra secret sauce.

she dated it, because the first one she made got lost between the CS and the shipping dock, so she had to make another one.

mahogany body. maple neck. ebony board. 24 frets. short Gibson scale. swithcraft innards. gotoh tuners. oem FR. and my additions/mods are: 42mm 1/2" titanium block from guitarupgrades <-link! Schaller locking strap pins. p/p to put JB in parallel.

I'm confused - you bought this with the weird dots, but where'd the dots go? Or somehow you scored a really obscure blaze neck with no dots?

Dig it, except for the middle humbucker - personal preference I guess (looks + my pick would hit it).

Very nice...a Blaze Nightswan w/MJ Pickups and a Custom Neck w/No Dots. Very sweet.

the neck was replaced, as part of the purchase agreement. this model has always had the middle hum, per Vivian Campbell's request when first designed.

This is the Shredder model, which is what the NightSwan was based on.

Woah! Congrats! I've been GASing for a 24.75" 24frets for a while now... You've made it worse.

If you can find a Peavy Vanderberg, that could be a good option. Adrian was with Peavy and wanted Blaze to design one like Vivian's Shredder. But Blaze had already went on board with Kramer. So Peavy pretty essentially made a copy of the Shredder for Adrian.

Can be rare, but they are fun guitars.

And you've just correctly guessed the one I've been GASing for :D

Very awesome. The first superstrat to win my heart so quickly. You are a man of good taste.

I couldn't stop myself from asking; what secret sauce? Or at least, sauce to what effect?

I've said too much.

You need to go on your own tone quest, junior. You have time before school starts to pull a Jim Morrison out in the desert to see where the journey will lead you.

This is not the discussion you are looking for. Move along. Move along.

Im game for a spiritual quest ala Mr Mojo Risin in the desert... Been a VERY large number of years since I had some, uh, medicinal spiritual enhancers.. lol
Awesome axe! Ive never played one of those, but I am a big fan of the Vandys... Buddy of mine bought a couple of the top line Vandys with the set neck, (or neck thru, cant recall) and they were awesome.

Where are the Blaze's being made now?

Beautiful!!! I quite like that with no inlays. Draws the eye toward the lightning storm.

If I may briefly hijack your thread, here's Sevenator Prototype #1, which Buddy made for me a few years ago. I've put a Full Shred and '59 in there. Poplar body, Pacific Blue finish, ebony fretboard and cool heptagon inlays.

I think the dots in that 7-sting are cooler than the new style ping pong. Probably even more than the original ping pong. I'm sure you can see those "fubar" style dots just didn't belong on a LS shredder.
