NGD - Custom Christmas Build Complete

Made this from a Solo Music Gear LP Kit over Christmas.

Had to get a new soldering iron as the one out in the country where I was staying kicked the bucket, so I had to wait until this weekend to finish it. It has a rough setup (I did my best) so it’s playable and sounds pretty good.

I went with the coloured strings as I’m still learning guitar and it helps me visualize my fingers on the strings until muscle memory kicks in; once that happens I’m switch to some mellow flat wounds.



Upgrades eventually will be coil-splittable humbuckers and better push-pull pots. A roller bridge (need to find a nice black one), string butler and turner upgrades. But that is all for another (warmer) day.

Now off to practice!

I got an Allparts roller bridge in black from Arkansas Music Company
Bout 20 bucks

So far it’s playing well, I’m a beginner so I’m playing C, G, Eb, D, E, Ab chords.

I’ll check out Allparts for that roller bridge, I can afford $20

I like it.... except for the face of the peghead. It's too light colored compared to the rich browns on the rest of the axe.

Yes, thats because I need to add the Logo on the head then stain and finish (It has a light finish on it currently). But I thought I'd leave that to when I upgrade the tuning machines etc. Thus why its "lighter" currently.

Looks real nice!

I don't mind the light peghead myself. All the wood on that guitar looks pretty. The light head is different but it reminds me of the Les Paul Anniversary Tribute headstock.

If it plays in tune and you are enjoying it - it's a keeper. Rock on.

Wow, flame figuring with spawlted "wings" that's an unusual sight, but looks EXTREMELY good.

I am no pro by a mile, but just remember you dont have to smash your fingers down. Aim EXACTLY behind the fret, its dramatic just how little pressure is needed. I tried to find the video for you but couldnt. Keep playing!! Shes a beaut!!

Actually, the spalted maple is not in separate wings, it's part of the flame.
