NGD: Edwards LP Custom (56K = NO SOUP FOR YOU)

After trying yet another bout with 7 strings and coming right back to sixes in less than 2 weeks... I decided to grab myself a nice axe.

I've always dug mahogany bodies, 2 buckers, TOM bridges. My Schecter Stealth, my third guitar, has still been my favorite guitar through the 15 I've owned in the last 5-6 years, so I figured I'd get something along similar lines, but this time in a different shape.

We all know what the ultimate HH, TOM, Mahogany bodied guitar is, though... so I decided to bite the bullet and give one a shot:

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't be happier. This thing is incredibly loud acoustically, resonates ridiculously well, and has a neck as thick as my Schecters, but in a U shape, rather than a C... In other words, just a slightly different version of 'perfect' to me. It isn't obscenely heavy (just about 8lbs), and feels great strapped on - stays put regardless of how much I'm moving about. I'm not too thrilled with the pickups (JB/59), but once those get changed out, this thing will be perfect!

The craftsmanship on this guitar is what really impressed me, though. Not a single flaw in the finish, not one smudge into the binding on either side of the body, the neck, or the headstock, binding seams nearly invisible, nut cut well and cleanly attached to the headstock, and the frets... perfectly smooth and level all over. I get literally no fretbuzz anywhere on the neck.

The only things I'd change, aside from the pickups, on this axe would be to give it a TonePros TOM/tailpiece assembly and some Grover locking tuners. That said, for the price ($825 shipped), I couldn't ask for anything more than it already has!

Actually, the knobs will be the first things, aside from pickups, to be changed. I need some black speed knobs!

lol..

Ive always wanted to try (or buy) an Edwards. How did you get ahold of this one?

Re: NGD: Edwards LP Custom (56K = NO SOUP FOR YOU)

Some guy on the HC forum was selling it - if he wasn't, I'd have purchased it off of eBay.

Now to change those **** pickups and knobs!

Yay! Another edwards club member. Enjoy your guitar and congrats.

Thats real nice man. Is she all mahogany or with a maple cap? And what don't you like about the 59/JB?

I put a custom in my EC-400AT but I ended up going back to the JB.

Re: NGD: Edwards LP Custom (56K = NO SOUP FOR YOU)

Nice lp, those edwards are really nice axes. I really want one, but I already have 2 lp style guitars so one would have to go, and I don't really wanna sell either one, but threads like these aren't helping my case much.

I really wish edwards would do a prs type single, that would really make me wanna take the plunge.

I've wanted an Edwards LP for awhile. Where'd you score that one at?

Mahogany neck/body with a full maple cap and an ebony fretboard. Beautiful combo!

The JB is way loose in the low end and has that disgustingly harsh high mid spike. The 59 is just pure mud in the neck, especially with that much mahogany and 22 frets.

Man.....I should smack you for posting this thread. Really turns the gas back on...

Good looking axe, Jeff. You're right, the knobs are nasty. Speeds would look WAAAAY better. Is that switch tip really as gold-looking as it looks in the pics?

Seriously, it doesn't get much classier than an LP in black/gold.

Those knobs are the perfect match for that guitar. They shout CLASS in yer face, pal. Other type would make her look cheap... like a ten dollar hooker. Leave those knobs alone!
Another thing... EMG's in that guitar? No way. She's asking desperately for a Golden Seth Lover Set. Then she'll be just Purrrfect!

Yup, switch tip is gold, or gold plated something. It's metal, whatever it is.

The witchhat knobs just look cheesy to me, and feel lame.

As far as EMG's vs. Seth Lovers... I play deathmetal. 'nuff said.

Wish I could find a nice one here in the States. Anyone know what customs charge would be getting this shipped in?
