After trying yet another bout with 7 strings and coming right back to sixes in less than 2 weeks... I decided to grab myself a nice axe.
I've always dug mahogany bodies, 2 buckers, TOM bridges. My Schecter Stealth, my third guitar, has still been my favorite guitar through the 15 I've owned in the last 5-6 years, so I figured I'd get something along similar lines, but this time in a different shape.
We all know what the ultimate HH, TOM, Mahogany bodied guitar is, though... so I decided to bite the bullet and give one a shot:
To be perfectly honest, I couldn't be happier. This thing is incredibly loud acoustically, resonates ridiculously well, and has a neck as thick as my Schecters, but in a U shape, rather than a C... In other words, just a slightly different version of 'perfect' to me. It isn't obscenely heavy (just about 8lbs), and feels great strapped on - stays put regardless of how much I'm moving about. I'm not too thrilled with the pickups (JB/59), but once those get changed out, this thing will be perfect!
The craftsmanship on this guitar is what really impressed me, though. Not a single flaw in the finish, not one smudge into the binding on either side of the body, the neck, or the headstock, binding seams nearly invisible, nut cut well and cleanly attached to the headstock, and the frets... perfectly smooth and level all over. I get literally no fretbuzz anywhere on the neck.
The only things I'd change, aside from the pickups, on this axe would be to give it a TonePros TOM/tailpiece assembly and some Grover locking tuners. That said, for the price ($825 shipped), I couldn't ask for anything more than it already has!
