NGD: Edwards LP Custom, vintage white

Well the UPS folks surprised me and this was waiting when I got home from work :) Sorry for the crappy pix, it's late and no natural light. It feels REALLY nice. Solid with a good amount of weight (it's not a backbreaker but not like a feather either) and nice acoustic properties.

It arrived with broken knobs, so I put on a set of amber knobs that I have.

how'd I miss this thread??

Congrats! Very pretty! I love the fact that Edwards actually uses Ebony on their LPC's (unlike Tokai, and most others). Just needs a pup switch ring :)

Some of these have a JB/59 and Ive seen some that come with a Distortion in the neck (ala Randy) does yours have the JB?

Tokai uses ebony on LC180, LC185 models and up. I was going to buy one this summer, the price was like $1400 with shipping IIRC, but I was held back by the waiting time: 4 months (!!!), and opted for an Orville by Gibson '57 BB reissue. I'm happy I did.

It's the JB/59. I think the other vintage white (LP-92CD) comes with the distortion though.

Heh..Yeah I should have specified. Their LPC models in the same price range as Edwards don't have ebony. Nor do Epi Japans, and latter model greco/burny, etc.

And how come I've not heard about this Orville? AHEM??:grumble:

Ahh cool. And I meant Distortion in the bridge. No coffee in the morning makes for a dumb Jeff :omg: At any rate..NICE LPC :bigthumb:

Re: NGD: Edwards LP Custom, vintage white

The Sykes models have a Distortion neck/bridge set in them.

Nice geetar, those Edwards are great guitars!

Re: NGD: Edwards LP Custom, vintage white

I am so GASSING for one of those. I really want a Sykes one or a black custom. I just wish I could find one used...as I hate the idea of paying for one via paypal into Japan.

The model is LPC-57B, they were produced at Fujigen and Terada factories during several years only: I don't remember the starting year, it might be 1992 or 1993, but the final year of production was 1995. My guitar is from 1993 and was made at Terada factory that now builds Gretsch guitars and Epiphone Elitist semihollows. The specs are exactly the same as the Gibson 1957 BB reissue from that era (long neck tenon, ebony board, fret binding, mahogany body and top, two '57Classics, nitro finish). The only difference is that the body is 2 piece and the top is 3 piece. I've upgraded it with a lightweight aluminum tailpiece from Gotoh and now it's perfect.

I bought mine from www.japanguitars.co.uk, Mark is a great guy. Very helpful and knowledgeable. His prices are a bit high (I paid $1500 for the guitar), but he guarantees the quality of every his guitar and has a 30 day exchange policy. I doubt if anyone will ever need it. He has a transparent cherry ObG LPC-57 right now for sale:

Of course! Monty-Jay, please excuse my for hijacking your thread! And congratulations! I really like your guitar, I seriously considered buying the exact same guitar before I found my Orville by Gibson. Having a mahogany top was a must for me. Here go the pics:
