NGD: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

Re: NGD: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

For me personally, the entry level for a Semi Hollow would be a Gibson Mid-Town, but shine on.

Re: NGD: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

Here are some pics. Like I said, the lighting in my house sucks, but it's really cold outside, and pretty grim out there too.

The flame is nice, but not PRS fancy or anything. The previous owner had the frets leveled and a decent setup done. As I said before, the action was way too low for me, so I raised it a bit and added a little relief. With the 11-50 strings, it's much better, but I think I'm gonna go 12-56.

The last pic is of the center block, only because people don't usually post that sort of pic.

I copied the image address from Google Photos, then did the

Yay!

Looks sweet!

for the record I tried both Chrome and Firefox, all I got was minus.

Also, after the Photobucket disaster, I started uploading my images directly to the forum.

Re: NGD: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

Is that referring to the cutaways? Don’t all 335s look like that?

Ok, I'll bite...explain
I've found'em to have a arguably "better" tonefootprint than their older, oddly-shaped ear counterparts.

It's stated that all Sheratons come with laminated necks, but I've serviced quite a few with one-piece maple necks, so that's another thing to look for that's preferable when buying a second-hand Sherry to mod.

Now I see the mouse ears compared to the pointier horns. I thought they all were the same.

I want whatever this is (or the modern equivalent with humbuckers)

That's a Sheraton. I've actually played one from '59 a few years ago at Dave's Guitar Shop in WI.

Re: NGD: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

I can see the pics now too JB. That's a sharp looking guitar for sure and a very nice top to boot. Very nice score. I too prefer the looks of the mouse ears.

Re: NGD: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

I'm pretty sure the whole 'mouse ears' thing was in reference to Gibby 335's. I believe the early 335's had the rounder 'mouse ear' cutaways and that later versions, while still rounded, were slightly pointier.
