NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

Well today I picked up my newest acquisition, a Fender Road Worn Strat. I wrote these things off when I first saw them as gimmicks. I thought there was no way they could be good. Mexican made, beat to hell and back, and overpriced. I take it back. I found one in our local used music store and I was blown away by the neck and tone of this thing. Thicker neck than I'm used to with Fender, worn feel, very natural contour. I loved it from the first time I played it so I had to have it. Without further ado, pictures!

Pics not showing on my smartphone. :(

At the next string change, take a look underneath the pickguard. Chances are that somebody changed the stock pickups.

Pictures aren't showing up for me either. Probably something to do with the privacy settings on your Facebook account...

That's really nice, man. Even nicer is the gig bag - where did you get it?

Seriously though, those are great guitars. Most people that have played them still don't like the looks, but absolutely love the necks. I've thought about getting a neck before... hmm.

Re: NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

Honestly I don't remember where I got this gig bag but I do love it! This guitar is a killer for sure.

Re: NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

I had all kinds of negative opinions of the Road Worn guitars until I shut up and actually played one. They feel awesome to play. Congrats.

Re: NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

The question I have is, do you even need a case/gig bag? It's already beat up so why not just throw it in the trunk of your car and go? lol!

Cool guitar though!

Re: NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

I think I'll do a short video or just an audio recording tonight of the guitar in action. Maybe even do a comparison between my Gibsons. I love how a new guitar can instill a new desire to play.

I'd love to see/hear a video.

Very nice, sunburst/maple fretboard is the ultimate Strat look in my opinion, that's why I have 2, plus an Aged Cherry one.

Yup, ditto, even started a thread about the ridiculousness of the idea. Then I played one, and realized it was just a Hwy1 strat with some break in on the instrument, which reminds me a lot of my own Hwy1, which just happens to be my favourite electric.

Killer looking guitar!

Re: NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

If I remember correctly, then the necks are made in the US.

I think it's the same deal as the Hwy1 series, with the addition of the relic work. The bodies and necks are made in the USA with the thin nitro finish. The hardware is the same as the standard line, with some slight pickup changes.

Re: NGD! : Fender Road Worn Strat

I don't know where they are made, how they're made or any of that. All I know is that this is the most comfortable start I've ever played in my entire life. I'll definitely be putting some wear of my own on this thing.
