NGD - Fender + Rosewood

Bucket list guitar. Check. Plays awesome. 2017 CS version of Rosewood Tele. No skunk stripe. One piece neck. Satin finish, decal over the finish, like the original. There’s some hollowing in the body but still a bit heavy. Sounds thick in the mids, similar to a good vintage Les Paul, with a bit of top end twang available. Rolling the tone off brings it into Les Paul territory. Tone up and running it into a bright Fender/clean amp allows for chicken pickin. This one has Twisted Tele set pickups in it. Neck sounds like a Strat neck, more beef to it. Bridge is hot and thick, kind of humbuckery. Can do country, blues, 70’s rock (Zep, AC/DC, etc). Just a really great all around Telecaster.

Yes I've played one of those as one of my students ordered one. Really nice axe. Will you leave it stuck or change some stuff?

Re: NGD - Fender + Rosewood

Let me start off by saying that the Tele is the one guitar that I cannot get used to, cannot play due to the feel and construction and just generally don't like them personally. HOLY HELL that guitar is BEAUTIFUL AND CLASSY. WOW!!!

Such exquisite color and design. The bridge with the cover on it looks like a work of art. Simple, clean lines and nothing there but what's needed to do the job. I would leave it just like it is, cosmetically. Change the pickups, electronics..... whatever. But that is so classy the look should never change. I can't believe how moved I am by it.

Congratulations on such a unique guitar. I hope it's everything you want in a Tele and more. Enjoy it, because that is a lifetime guitar for sure. Wow.

I’ve already had to work on it - it came with a busted switch. At some point I’ll put vintage-correct pickups in it, like Seymour’s, or try the ‘67’s from Fender, maybe both, just to hear about what it’s supposed to sound like. But I’m loving it out of the box, very useful guitar; it’s a really really good Tele. Plays well, sounds good, no bad spots or bad sounds.

I forgot to mention, Rosewood guitars not only look like chocolate, they actually smell like chocolate (to me). Apparently the fragrance is a characteristic of the wood that doesn’t go away, similar with cedar.

Congrats! That is one classy guitar. Looks like a player.

Rosewood necks are money with telecasters. I like them with ebony for some added twang.

EVERYTHING is rosewood? What's that sound like? ....Or are those just veneers?

It’s solid Rosewood. The body is two halves front and back with a thin maple slice sandwiched in between. Not sure why they did that. The neck is one piece of Rosewood. This one sounds somewhere in between my ash body/maple neck Tele and my Les Paul Standard.

Re: NGD - Fender + Rosewood

Many, many years ago....had a chance to buy one of the original rosewood Teles. I've always regretted not pulling the trigger on that one...especially now that the originals command ridiculous prices.

You have a very cool and very unique guitar...enjoy!

Not period correct per se, but an Esquire (flatpole and A3s) pickup would be epic in there. Good luck picking out the p'up for it. Hard to beat a good playing Tele.
