NGD...forum trade :)

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Congrats. I tried to buy that guitar, but you beat me to it. I have your original tailpiece, though! It is going onto my Explorer the next time I change the strings. Enjoy the AXE! I used to have the same model in the same color, but it got traded for a camera kit. It was a really good guitar; I miss it.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Wow, you are on a roll, first a kick@ss partscaster, now a cool LP with a twist (actually, several twists).

Happy new guitar day, enjoy!!!

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Yep...'88 BCR G-Slinger/Assassin "Graffiti" has a new home...but it went the same place as the Kramer Fully Bound Maple Board Neck. They went to a good home. :friday:

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

thank YOU, good sir. i was slightly intimidated, never having attempted a forum trade before, but i'm glad i did. it was a pleasure doing business!
*** No worries, this is one of the good forums out there and I'm honest about the stuff I pass on. It was my pleasure.

my dude agrees with you. it'll probably be a while before i know for sure if she'll be staying in my lineup permanently (or long-term, anyway). you never know, the gold might grow on me by then.
*** It's hard to improve on Schallers and that TP-6 is definitely a Les Paul's Tunings "Best Friend".

Plus it looks good on ya!

Nice! I don't care if it's purist-approved or not: TP-6 tailpieces are just COOL. I don't know what pups are in there but if it hasn't been done already, a set of 500k pots ought to wake it right up.

That worn goldl TP-6 tailpiece looks amazing with the figured top... Keep it!

I agree on the 500k pots... try new pots before new pups... If the new pots don't open up the pups, then a 59/custom hybrid would likely sound amazing in that.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

A les Paul Studio is EVERYTHING you NEED in a Les Paul.

And the Burgundy ones are particularly sexy. My life was so much better in so many ways when I realized that I only really like Les Pauls...except for financially.

Now all you need is a Studio w/ P-90's and you are good for anything.

This. If it still has the original 300k Gibson pots, it really doesn't matter what you stick in it, they are going to sound "off". I've never really been sure why Gibson bothered to use those 300k's.

Along with that, OP, you could switch the mags between the 498 and the 490. That'd give you A2 fat in the bridge and A5 clarity in the neck, though doing it with the covers certainly adds a few steps on the "pain in the ass" scale.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

I had your online persona pegged as a dude until like 4 days ago.
my work here is done.

seriously though, i've generally enjoyed being "one of the guys" a lot more than having a group of girlfriends. i have my best friend who is a woman and generally, other than her, i prefer hanging out with dudes, or at least a mixed crowd. guys tend to be more straightforward and less uptight in my experience...more fun all around. women can be MEAN.

Now what were these favours you were talking about doing for your man? You gonna wash even more dishes?
yes, that's it EXACTLY. and i'm going to bake him a pie.

Does anyone else hate to play the A major chord the way longcat is playing it on the last picture?
It always sounds out of tune to me that way. :banghead:
i think i'm actually playing Em7 in that shot.

sorry man, better luck next time. shouldn't happen again, as i can't imagine i'll be buying new axes that often. does it give you a little comfort that she's gone to a good home where she's much appreciated, as the only gibson child? :friday:

Clips, Please!!
in your dreams, maybe. someday i might be good enough to play something worth recording and letting other people listen to, but not right now.

i might try that. i'm new to the electronics in general, but i'm a tinkerer by nature, so they don't intimidate me. dystrust tells me he's never tried swapping magnets out before but it's worth a try for sure. then, if i'm still not crazy about them, i can swap them out entirely.

the TP6...it's staying put for now. there's an extra gold stock tailpiece laying around here that i might try out at some point when i change the strings on it, just to see the difference, but not until after all the other nuances have been addressed, and the TP6 might just go right back on anyway during the next string change. it's not like it's a huge pain in the ass to swap out, and i want to try different things to see what i like best instead of just saying "well it sounds good to me" without knowing what else is possible, especially with a switch that easy. i just want to keep an open mind and try it. from the consensus here though, it sounds like the TP6 is something i'm going to want to keep on there.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

my thoughts exactly.. WAT??

Im sick to see the Kramer go... and stunned you sold graffitti. Where does one get those LP bridges?? They use stock posts and are reversable right? I love the one on my Burny..

Longcat, Congrats!! Beautiful axe!

Kramer...yeah, it was the last one to go...Graffiti was a great guitar but I've been tryinig to scale down for a while now and that's just how it all shook out. No regrets, as I enjoyed 'em both while I had 'em. :friday:

I found the TP-6 that's on my LP on eBay for $60 and the one that went to LONGCAT was from Music Go Round for $60 as well. They're all over eBay but usually $90 used and more new. Yeah, direct swap out for standard Gibson Stop Tailpiece.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

thanks for the info!! Any real benefit except fine tuning??

Longcat, you said you hated being pregnant? You dont look old enough to have birthed a child.. Again, congrats on that nice gibber!

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Fine tuning and the added mass of that big old honkin' bridge, which I think makes a difference in tone as well.

Re: NGD...forum trade :)

Sweet guitar, looks like you got a great deal off MnM's.... he knows great guitars!

sweet deal! thanks for passing it on to me. :)

why, thank you. :1: i most certainly am though. my son's 2, and i'm almost 30. feels old, from this side of that number. my dude assures me it's not so bad though.

apparently so! i'm loving this one. i can't say i like it more than my strat. they're different.

I'm thinking Asus4 myself, but sometimes it's difficult to tell when viewed in reverse.
pretty sure it's Em7, thinking about what i was playing at the time. Asus4 is really similar though, IIRC. 0-2-2-0-3-3 and x-0-2-2-3-3, right?
