I just recently picked up a used 2007 Gibson LP Standard Silverburst. Guitar Center released 400 of these in 2007, and another 400 in 2008 but with a traditional LP headstock instead. I love the guitar! Plays phenomenally! Here are some features:
Sorry about the last picture. I couldn't help it.:wall:
So to the business of this amazing knowledgable board. I'm torn about the pickups. I love the burstbucker pro p'ups under high gain. It crunches, thuds, and screams very well. I'm hella enjoying raining havoc on my neighbors. lol But to be honest, I believe they are pretty thin sounding in a clean/mellow setting, especially the bridge (which at times can sound shrill/tinny to me). My other LP has an SH-5 Custom bridge and a Pearly Gates neck. I love them, but I'm thinking about trying something different this time. It may be poor form to swap out the p'ups without giving them a chance to sink in. Maybe I haven't messed with my amp's EQ enough, or maybe I should try swapping magnets first.
For rhythm, I love the tones that both Adam Jones and Jerry Cantrell have (I'm aware that they both mix and match several amps). For leads, I've always loved Marty Friedman's tone. I'm playing through a Mesa Dual Rec Roadster with an 2x12 cab with Celestions (V30 and G12T-75). Any thoughts/opinions out there?
Oh... and I want to change out the tuners. The pegholes are vintage spec (8.5mm) in diameter rather than the modern 10mm, which is making finding a replacement I like rather difficult.
- Ebony fretboard
- Crown inlayed headstock
- 60s neck profile
- Burstbucker Pro pickups
