NGD: Gibson SG HP

I have completely fallen in love with the feel of this neck. It has as slightly wider than the usual Gibson neck with a thinner neck profile. It makes for easy playing with my small hands. Shocking to me actually. I expected it to be just the opposite. I did ditch robot tuners. I replaced them with a nice set of Kluson Deluxe. I am usually a Seymour Duncan pickup snob this I openly admit but I have to say the 57 classic set in this guitar fit just right. Just enough balls to make it sound mean yet retain that PAF tone. It came with this insanely sweet and heavy might I add, aluminium flight case. Im a fan in the sense that its built like a tank but my God when you're a 5'2 chick carrying it around it can be a pain LOL.

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

That is an outstanding guitar, congrats. Are the pickup rings stock? If not, I would replace them with the stock rings, which would be black in that case.

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

The Gibson HP line gets a whole lot more crap than it deserves. It's the only non-traditional thing that I think Gibson does well. I mean, take the height adjustable nut for example. A poor mountain peasant like me can set the guitar up for slide with no modification. The G-Force can be neat to if you only have one guitar for a whole set.

Definitely a nice guitar.

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

Very nice!!! Congrats!! Yeah, if the pups werent chrome covered, the rings would look great, but with both, its alil much. IMO, of course. Im curious how that nut is adjustable.?? Looks so basic. Obviously its attached with screws and not glued on..

It basically let's you adjust the action at the nut as well as the bridge. The two screws on the outside adjust the height, the middle one holds it in place.

exactly. you can basically have complete control as to how you set your action up. I was looking at the pickup rings and im thinking I may be able to take just the chrome covers off. im not a big fan of all the chrome either but for the price I just couldnt pass it up. It is used but it is in mint condition. who ever had this baby kept her in tip top shape.
when i change strings again ill inspect my theory on the pickup rings. in the meantime heres some more pics.

I like the finish on that, but I'm also interested to see it with slightly fewer shiny bits.

ill post some pics when the knobs get here. I went speed knob instead of top hat. which is just my personal taste. I actually dont mind the chrome tip on the switch.

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

Sweet SG!!!!!!!! An I'm not really an SG guy.

Might I suggest...

Go full chrome retard with a chrome pick guard

or go full evil and ALL black. Knobs, rings, covers, bridge, etc...

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

Wow, if that is a used guitar either it sat in the case or the person who owned it took great care of it because it sure looks in new condition to me.

I will get a real SG Standard one day in my life since that is the guitar I have always wanted.

Hope you continue to enjoy and play the heck out of it.

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

THANk you! Yes Rueben isn’t going anywhere. He’s a keeper. It has some minimal scuffs on the back but you have to look hard to see them.
