NGD: Gibson SG HP

Re: NGD: Gibson SG HP

Sweet SG for sure. I kind of like some of the HP enhancements, especially the new heel joint and the adjustable nut. I also agree with the speed knob change.

Here's the deal though. If you are going to call the guitar "Ruben", every metal part on there...bridge, tailpiece, pickup covers.... must be changed to nickel. That way it's a softer shade of silver and it will age gracefully over the years and will look better (IMO) with the other changes you're making. Otherwise, you might as well take Bob's advice and go full chrome regard; but if you do that, you'll have to rename the guitar RuPaul, or Carlton. Either way, it's a non starter.

Congrats on saving so well for your SG. Too many now are all about instant gratification, so this shows maturity and the much less often seen common sense. Enjoy the heck out of that thing.

It basically let's you adjust the action at the nut as well as the bridge. The two screws on the outside adjust the height, the middle one holds it in place.

Thanks for the info!!

exactly. you can basically have complete control as to how you set your action up. I was looking at the pickup rings and im thinking I may be able to take just the chrome covers off. im not a big fan of all the chrome either but for the price I just couldnt pass it up. It is used but it is in mint condition. who ever had this baby kept her in tip top shape.
when i change strings again ill inspect my theory on the pickup rings. in the meantime heres some more pics.

Yes, from the side pics, the chrome parts are just thin covers. easy fix! When I wanted to put chrome rings on my explorer, I made the error of buying just the covers like you have instead of the entire rings.
