NGD...Gibson SG Special

I like my black SG Special so much that last week I got a brown faded one too. The black one has an 8.4k Seth Lover in the bridge and a 7.5k Seth Lover in the neck. The new one already had Duncan '59s installed. I planned to replace them with Screamin Demons (a 10.0k TB-12 in bridge, 9.3k SH-12 in neck). The '59s sound quite good with the tone controls rolled almost-to-all-the-way off, but they're pretty bright otherwise. I look forward to trying the Demons...and I'm already considering mag swaps, if necessary, to fine tune whichever pickups I go with. Think the Demons will be a better choice than the '59s in my quest for a little more grunt and tonal difference than the Seths?

Demons are bright and trebly too. They may end being worse than 59s.

My USA Hamer standard w/59s was like that, only way to get the thing sonding warm and not ear piercing was rolling off the tone controls to about 4. That guitar needed some 57 classics or a Super Distortion/PAF combo.

You may wanna try some warmer/thicker pickups or 300K volumes.

Congrats on the new guitar day!

Yeah, if both pickups are too bright I'll try UOA5 or A2 magnets. According to Duncan the Demons are supposed to have more growl instead of the bite of the '59s. I have tried a Demon in the past, and it did have an OK bit of mid growl...a little more would be nice. We'll see...
