New guitar at home, a beautiful Trans black SG. One piece body, this SG sounds incredible .

Thanks, I will upgrade the bridge with an ABR-1 conversion kit.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but that's not black. Two piece body as well.
Nice axe all the same.

I agree–definitely at least a 2 piece and that is the brownest black I've ever seen.

But congrats on the guitar though! SGs are tone monsters.

I think it's called walnut stain finish. What year? It looks like a 61 Reissue from the early 90's or something.

Re: NGD - Gibson SG Trans Black

"Transparent Black" is variable, sometimes showing a lot of the brownness of the wood.

I don't see multiple pieces of wood. If it is laminate, they frequently use a veneer which is hidden unless you do some serious sanding down of the body.

That' s what I thought , I looked closely to the center ...

Upgrades to do :

- ABR-1 bridge
- knob pointers
- TUSQ cream nut
- Kluson Revolution tuners ... may be ?

Re: NGD - Gibson SG Trans Black

Sorry that's not transparent black. More like natural. From the photo it looks like the body is book-matched right on the center.

What would be more proper first upgrade than this:

Re: NGD - Gibson SG Trans Black

I'll make it easy. Gibson calls it "Transparent Ebony". Now, carry on with debating the actual color ... :D

Ps. I like it.

Re: NGD - Gibson SG Trans Black

Gibson can call it seafom blue if it wants to, be my guess. But any sane person in this universe would call this transparent black:

Fender has 'vintage white' in its color swatch but it doesn't even look like a white that has become yellowed from aging.

Re: NGD - Gibson SG Trans Black

Regardless of any issues on the color....

SWEET@$$ SG!!!!!!

How does she feel? How Does she sound? I know...not as important as color/top pieces, but tell me about those minor details please.
