NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

So I ordered a used Ltd EC1000t from a guitar center. I ordered the cherry burst with the maple top and seymour duncan alnico II pro pups. 2 inch thick body that is solid wood more like a good Lester. After waiting for the delivery from out of state, UPS alerts me that my package has been delivered to the local GC. When I show up they had sent a black ltd 1000t with EMGs and no maple top... When the salesman called the other store and they had uploaded the wrong picture and did not have the cherry eclipse anymore. when I informed them of their mistake and that I didn't want the black guitar they told me that they were unable to refund the shipping charges... As far as I was concerned Guitar Center really dropped the ball and wouldn't own their mistake. EMGs are not my cup of tea and the lack of maple would have been a deal breaker alone. The salesman was able to locate another cherry ec1000t so it wasn't a complete loss but I still had to eat the $25 in s&h and then pay it the 2nd time for the 2nd guitar. NGD will have to be postponed again. Not cool Guitar Center, not cool.

Need to go to manager, then district manager. Start making calls and writing letters. They are wrong.

What Bill said. They should've eaten the shipping charges for their idiotic mistake.

It's not even the same guitar!

complain to the manager and get your dues.

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

Here they are hurting for business and then they pull a genius PR move like this. Escalate it; you will get some resolution.

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

I would have turned around and walked back out the door without giving them a dime.

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

I've been refunded several times for shipping... The salesmen could of easily done that. Should of delt with a manager and if they said no, ask for a district manager, just as everyone else suggested.

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

And stop the credit card charge for the shipping. If you paid cash, raise holy hell.

I only buy strings and picks from the local GC anymore and that is not too often. As a store they offer me almost no value at all. Pricing is not great, inventory is a joke, and they offer no service that I would pay them for over any of the local mom and pop stores.

The manager in charge told me that he couldn't refund the shipping. I emailed the store manager, we'll see if he can redeem his store before escalating it further. If I had just returned something I didn't like that would be different... I work in retail and I would be mortified if someone did this to one of my customers.

Wow I'm glad the people at my local GC don't pull this sort of thing, most of the time they don't even charge me shipping

No you don't. One call to your credit card company and you are all set.

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

That is just poor business on that stores part. Ridiculous

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

At the point where he said you'd have to eat the shipping, that's where I ask to speak with someone that knows what they are doing. That could be few and far between at GC. I've found a few used gems from their used stock but not so much lately. Overpriced, IMO.

Re: NGD? Guitar Center Horror Story #1

Wow. I guess they're the last surviving big box music shop in a lot of areas and get away with this stuff.

No way I'd pay that while I was still breathing.

I went in to my local Gc and one of the sales guys say in the acoustic room with me and kept playing the snot out of another guitar. I just stopped playing and waited until he finally figured it out. I don't want to hear how good you are, I want to concentrate on the tones and harmonics coming off the one in my hands.

Strings, pedals and picks. It's what they have devolved into for me as well. It's unfortunate as I could sometimes find some great deals there.

This isn't the first time GC has dealt dirt to its' customers. There's plenty of forumites here who work for the company, who have first-hand knowledge of how hard it is to get them to move on anything.

Two epic threads, revolving around their history of dropping the ball.

The scam:

The result, with yet another attempt at a scam:

Roger that. By my reckoning, if it's their mistake, it's their money.
You, as a customer, paid in full for what you ordered. You didn't change your mind, they're the ones who sent the wrong piece.
Get your money back, and don't take "that's store policy" for an answer. Store policy is not the law.
