NGD - I was just given a guitar!

Re: NGD - I was just given a guitar!

It's worth "messing with" because it's free. Just don't go and do the pearl inlays or Custom Shop pups just yet. Play with it and see how she feels. ;)

Re: NGD - I was just given a guitar!

That was my brothers first guitar, they are like $110 new. They aren't really made with any quality parts but you can always stick a high gain pup in it and rock the **** out.

Re: NGD - I was just given a guitar!

Those are nice inexpensive guitars. They play well and stay in tune....all the rest is up to you!!

Love free guitars!!!

I have bought a couple of the entry deans as gifts for people
Each I've contemplated keeping/stealing

Re: NGD - I was just given a guitar!

Should make a decent slide guitar. I one of it's upper level EVO cousins. Nice setneck Goldtop EVO60 with P90s.

lol . . . is it just me, or is "should make a decent slide guitar" the default advice for any ****ty guitar?

Re: NGD - I was just given a guitar!

I remember a kid in the late 70's that did "ok" with a crappy guitar. And he didn't even play slide.

;-)

Re: NGD - I was just given a guitar!

I think some of those are made with paulownia timber. Cheap wood but incredibly light and tone friendly. I am actually making my current build using locally grown paulownia.

Here is a cheap dean and another that I messed with and love

I say do anything you want to that, even if it involves a chain saw. If you like the way it feels/sounds, go for it.
